UNION MINISTER OF STATE REVIEWS STATE AND CENTRAL SCHEMES

Panaji:: October 17, 2018 …  Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Jaswantsinh Bhabhor today held a review meeting with Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Govind Gaude.  The meeting held at Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto was attended by Shri M. Dilip Kumar, Private Secretary and Shri L. Raghavendran, Asst. Private Secretary to  the Union Minister,  Shri Daulat Hawaldar, IAS, Secretary Tribal Welfare, Shri Venancio Furtado, Director of Tribal Welfare and Shri Deepesh Priolkar, Dy.Director of Tribal Welfare.

Shri. Bhabhor was apprised with the objectives and expenditure made under various central and state funded schemes implemented in the state of Goa.

After the meeting, Shri. Bhabhor and Shri Gaude proceeded to visit tribal areas in Betki-Khandola Village Panchayat. The Union Minister inaugurated the works of improvement and providing hot mix carpet to various internal roads in the jurisdiction V.P. Betki Khandola in Priol.

PANJIM: Oct 16th 2018:::  The Goa Chess Association’s 1st Goa International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament gets underway as Goa’s top players have a great start at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim, recently.
The GCA’s 1st GM Open Chess scripted a golden line in their 40th anniversary following the successful start of the campaign.
Speaking during the inaugural ceremony chief guest Minister for Power  and GCA President Nilesh Cabral said, “We would like to thank the government of Goa headed by our CM Manohar Parrikar for giving us the required support in hosting this championship. After world junior championship this is the first Grandmaster tournament in the State and
we are proud to host it,”
Cabral played the first move of the tournament with top seed GM Kravtsiv Martyn to announce the tournament open. “We have received a great response from the participants for this tournament and welcome all the 1130 odd participants who have come a long way and we wish them a successful tournament ahead,” Cabral wished the participants and felicitated all the GMs present at the championship including Goa’s first GM Anurag Mhamal and Women Grandmaster Bhakti Kulkarni.
“Goa has made history by hosting an event of such a calibre making them on par with other metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Chennai and others by providing best of the facilities in terms of hotel, stay, accommodations etc. This is an opportunity for all the young Goan chess players to get them international exposure,” said Tournament Director Kishor Bandekar.
The GCA’s 1st GM tournament is a unique chess tournament which features players between the age of 7 to 74 from 17 different countries.
“The tournament started as per the schedule commencing with the Category B while the Category A started in the second session after the inaugural ceremony,” added Bandekar.
Earlier, Nilesh Cabral lit the traditional lamp in the presence of BCH Negi Director of Airport  Authority of India, G Mangunath PCL chief regional manager, Kishor Bandekar secretary Goa Chess Association and Tournament Director, Vipnesh Bharadwaz chief international arbiter,
Ashish Keni GCA Vice President, Khanolkar Vice President of GCA, Vishwa’s Pilankar treasurer of GCA, Vasant Naik Vice President and other dignitaries. The ceremony had began with a Navratri Pooja and traditional folk dance Kanta Gaudi under the guidance of Department of
Art and Culture (Goa) and GCA Vice President Ashish Keni proposed the vote of thanks.
Goans perform
Goa’s Anurag Mhamal kept his composure in the Round 1 of the Category A as he eased his way past WFM Bidhar Rutumbara. Meanwhile Fide Master Ameya Audi beat AFM Choubey Saurabh to begin his Cat A campaign on a high.
On top boards, GM Kravstiv Martyn, GM Amonatov Farrukh, GM Popov Ivan, GM Idnai Pouyo recorded comfortable wins in their respective encounters, while GM Tukhaev Adam, GM Kunte Abhijit were held by Himanshu Ranjan and Santanu B Gohain respectively.
Goan Devi S Naik put up a strong fight and earned half a point frustrating a higher rated player, holding Kumar Gaurav (ratings 2236) to a draw. Meanwhile WGM Bhakti Kulkarni match with Akash Dalvi ended in a draw.
Another highlight was Nashik lass Dhanshree Rathi, who pulled off a great upset as she beat WIM Kasparova Tatiana from Belarus.
Earlier in the B category, Goa’s masterminds had a fine start on Day 1 as Anirudh V Bhat, Anvesh Bandekar, Swayam Naik, Sawant Tatvesh Ramdas, Sirsat Shekar, Amogh Namshilker, Vihan Dumir, Paarth Salvi, Aaryan Raikar began on a winning note.
Uzbekistan’s Safarov Donir had a fine start collecting maximum points in Round 1 easily beating Yash Abhijt Patel. Meanwhile the other foreign player —Laddha Yash Jayesh slummed to a shock defeat against Nirgul Keval.

POLYTECHNIC TO CONDUCT SIX MONTH COURSES

Panaji: October 15, 2018 … The Community Development through Polytechnic Panaji will be conducting free of cost short term course for 3 to 6 months in technical field such as Welding, Fabrication, AC and Refrigeration for the students who passed std VIII to generate employments for the community. The Scheme is sponsored by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Welding and Fabrication will start from November 20, 2018 interested should fill the form by October 31, 2018. AC and Refrigeration will start from October 22, 2018 interested should fill the form by October 19, 2018. Applications forms are available in community office of Government Polytechnic Panaji.   

UNITY IS CRUCIAL TO LEAD THE NATION TOWARDS ITS PROGRESS AND PROSPERITY SAYS TOURISM MINISTER

Panaji: October 14, 2018 … Unity is crucial to lead the nation towards its progress and prosperity said Minister for Tourism Shri Manohar Alias Babu Azgaonkar.He was speaking at a function organised by Village Panchayat Khajne-Amre –Porascadem in a programme to create awareness to participate in Gram Panchayat Development Plan at Panchayat Hall,Naibag Recently.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Azgaonkar congratulated the panchayat for conducting such competitions and said that Nation cannot prosper without participation of Women so it is necessary to promote women in every field. He further said that today’s women are not lagging behind in any field.

Smt Sangita Gaonkar,Sarpanch Ozarim, Shri Rosh Fernandes,Sarpanch Khajre-Porascadem and Rakesh Swar Panc member also spoke on the occasion.

Various Competition of Mahila Mandal such as cooking ,Drawing ,Rangoli were held.25 self help group participated in the competition.

Shri Pradip Kambli,Sarpanch,Varkhand-Nagzar, Shri Santosh Malik,Sarpanch Chandel-Hasapur and panch members were present on the occasion.

TOURISM MINISTER DISTRIBUTES SANCTION LETTERS OF LADLI LAXMI TO BENEFICIARIES

Panaji: October 13, 2018 …. Minister for Tourism Shri Manohar Alias Babu Azgaonkar distributed sanction letter of Ladli Laxmi Schemes to 18 beneficiaries from Pernem Taluka at a function held at Pernem today.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Azgaonkar said irrespective of income, scheme like Ladli laxmi have eased the financial burden .The financial help is also to ensure that a girl´s marriage is not be a burden on parents he said

Shri Azgaonkar also praised Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar for launching various schemes like Griha adhar, Dayanand Social Security scheme and also appealed to pray for the speedy recovery of the Chief Minister. Various upcoming projects like Ayush Hospital, International Stadium, Mopa airport,Ravindra Bhavan will help in generating employment to the local of Pernem he added.

Shri Pandurang Parab, Ex President Zilla Panchayat also spoke on the occasion.

MAKE ART A PART OF LIFE- PILARNEKAR

Panaji: October 12, 2018 … Shri. Gurudas Pilarnekar, Director of Art and Culture inaugurated “Silk Thread Jewellery Workshop” organized by Directorate of  Art and Culture at Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto.

 Speaking on the occasion Shri Pilarnekar said “Today along with education, learning a form of art is essential and knowledge of various art forms can help us improve financially too. We can make various things out of silk thread. The participants of workshop should get so deeply involved in learning the art so that it becomes a part of their life and they could use it for taking it further to make a business.”

Shri. Upadesh Kossambe, Assistant Accounts Officer, Art and Culture and Smt. Shweta Savordekar, Resource Person for the Workshop were also present on the occasion.

Smt. Shweta Savordekar from Savordem Goa Resource Person for the Workshop in her speech mentioned that she has been in tailoring business for the past 10 years and through this business has started making silk thread jewellery for the last two years and also has been teaching the same. She has taught almost around 300 women from all over Goa.

Shri. Yogesh Joshi was the compered and Shri. Upadesh Kossambe, A.A.O of Directorate of Art and Culture proposed the vote of thanks.

There was tremendous response for the workshop. Total around 35 women from various parts of Goa are participating in the workshop which will conclude on  October 13, 2018.

ANNUAL GENERAL BODY MEETING OF IRCS HELD

Panaji: October 11, 2018 … The annual general body meeting of Indian Red Cross Society, Goa state under the president-ship of Governor of Goa and the President of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Dr.Smt Mridula Sinha, was held at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula recently

Speaking on the occasion, Governor congratulated the Indian Red Cross Society for their immense contribution to the society.   Acknowledging that financial constraints are present, Governor said that there is no lack of people wanting to support, people are willing to help. We only have to ask for assistance without hesitating. Governor also applauded the number of various programme like blood donation camps carried out by the IRCS.Being an old institution it always inspire, encourage and initiate at all times all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized ,she stated.

She also suggested that as a part of Central Government’s decision to commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Indian Red Cross Society should also organise program  that have themes of teachings and principles of Mahatma Gandhi

Addressing the gathering, Shri Gaurish Dhond, Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society called upon all the members to rise and collectively work towards welfare of humanity.

Governor Dr.Smt.Mridula Sinha released the Annual Administrative Report of ICRS Goa for 2017-2018

Shri Manguirish Pai Raikar, Vice Chairman, IRCS read out the minutes of the previous year.Shri Mario Pinto De Santana presented the audited annual accounts for the year 2018-2019.

Prof.Subhash Kauthankar compered the meeting while Dr.Digamber Naik proposed the vote of thanks.

ROAD ACCIDENT STATISTICS FOR AUGUST 2018

Panaji: October 10, 2018 … The Directorate of Transport has compiled their monthly report of number of accidents that occurred and number of Challans issued for the month of August 2018.

As per the report there were 248 road accidents of which 14 Fatal Accidents (North Goa – 7 and South Goa – 7), 16 Grievous Accidents (North Goa – 6 and South Goa – 10), 49 Minor Accidents (North Goa – 17 and South Goa – 32), 169 Non – Injury Accidents (North Goa – 100 and South Goa – 69).

The total number of people who lost their lives in road accidents were 14 (North Goa – 7 and South Goa – 7). 4 riders and 2 Pillion Rider lost their lives in these accidents while 5 pedestrians lost their lives in the road accidents.

20 people were Grievously Injured (North – 7 and South – 13) while 63 persons suffered Minor Injuries (North – 21, South – 42).

A total 7814 Challans were issued by Transport authorities for the month of August.

SHRI AGUIAR URGES THOSE COMPLETING 18 YEARS TO REGISTER AS VOTERS

Panaji: October 9, 2018 … District Election ICON, North and well known poet, lyricist, author, actor/Information Officer, Shri John Aguiar has  asked All those  who will be attaining the age of 18 years as of January 1, 2019, to apply online through the  national voter service portal https://www.nvsp.in/ of the Election Commission of India. The services can be used by mobile phones too. They may also register their names in the electoral list manually by visiting the concerned Assistant Electoral Registration officer at Mamlatdar office.

Besides, he has  also urged people to ensure that their names are not repeated in the list of voters in more than one area (within a constituency or more) as non-deletion would attract a monetary penalty or one-year jail term or both.

NATIONAL VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION DAY OBSERVED

Panaji, October 8, 2018 … Goa State AIDS Control Society observed ‘National Voluntary Blood Donation Day’ at Goa University, Taleigao, today. Secretary (Health), Shri. J. Ashok Kumar, IAS, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Shri. J. Ashok Kumar, IAS, highlighted the importance of donating blood. He urged the student community to come forward and donate blood as he said that donating blood has a lot of health benefits.

Posters and Pamphlets on importance of Blood Donation were released on the occasion.

 The Guest of Honour, Registrar, Goa University, Prof. Y.V. Reddy appealed to all agencies to motivate the youth and other stakeholders, and sensitize the public towards blood donation and save the lives of people. 

 Blood donors were felicitated at the function. The theme of the Voluntary Blood Donation Day this year is ‘Happiness is donating Blood’. The day stresses the importance of regular Voluntary Blood donation by eligible donors to facilitate blood collection to meet national requirements. 

            The Director, Directorate of Health Services, Dr. Sanjeev Dalvi, Project Director, Goa SACS, Dr. Jose D’Sa, Assistant Director, Goa state AIDS Control Society, Shri. Umakant Sawant, Director, Directorate of Students Welfare, Goa University, Assistant Prof. Dattesh Parulekar, Chief Medical Officer, Goa SACS, Dr. Chandrakant Porob were among those present for the function.
