LEADER EMERGES OUT OF HIS VISION, QUALITY AND POSITIVE FRAME OF MIND- GOVERNOR

Panaji: Jan. 20th,2019 … The Goa Institute of Management in association with Women’s Leadership Forum organized a panel discussion on the topic ‘Pathways to Resilient Leadership’  on completion of its 25th year of inception, The Governor Dr Mridula Sinha was the chief guest for the inaugural function.

 The Governor in her inaugural address said that leader emerges out of his vision, quality, and positive frame of mind, Sometimes leader also emerges out of accident he guides and governs people for collective interest  and he is one who leads the society.

The Governor further said that becoming a leader, need to  understand  the leadership role and responsibility of being an effective leader. Individuals in a leadership role must strive to make better choices and decisions for the sake of others. She hoped that the panel discussion will deliberate on various issues of women leadership and will come out with better solution to encourage women leadership .

The Director of GIM Prof. Ajit Parulekar in his address said that Leadership is a vast subject.  Leader have to  motivate, instruct and discipline the people they are in charge of. They can accomplish these things if they are very skilled communicators.  Because poor  communication   can lead to poor outcomes. Therefore leaders have to develop these skills to emerge strong, confident and opt for adequate outcome he opined. He also hoped that that the panel discussion will deliberate on various   aspects   of women leadership to develop women leadership.

The inaugural function was followed by panel discussion comprised with the participants such as Ms. Meers Shankar, Retired Civil Servant Indian Ambassador USA, Ms. Brinda Somaya, Arcchitect & Urban Conservationist/Founder SNK India, Dr. Maria Aurora Couto, Writer ,Historian, Educationist, Ms. Kshama Fernandes, MD & CEO,Arcand Ms.Niti Desai, Classical Dance & Designer, Founder Niti Design Lab

GOVERNMENT CONFERS GOA STATE CULTURAL AWARDS

Panaji, January 20th, 2019 … The Government conferred Goa State Cultural Awards for the year 2017-18, to persons for their immense contribution towards promotion and preservation of art and culture and Yuva Srujan Puraskar-2018  to eleven eminent persons  and Kala Gaurav Puraskarr to thirty seven renowned  persons all from the field of literature,  drama, tiatr, folk  art, fine art, music, bhajan, kirtan, and film from the state for their endeavour and dedication in their respective fields, The winners   were awarded   at a Award Presentation Ceremony organized by the Directorate of Art & Culture. at Goa Kala Academy Campal today. The awards were presented to the recipients at the hands of renowned film actor Shri Sayaji Shinde in the presence of Minister for Art & Culture Shri Govind Gaude.

Shri Gawade speaking on the occasion said that, to become successful in art need dedication, hard work and commitment. The Goan artists from different streams of art have worked hard to promote and preservation of art. The immense dedication and sacrifice of artists for the sake of art resulted in earning name and fame and laurels to state.

Shri Gaude also said that many artists from Goa have excelled at national as well as  on international level. In order to acknowledge their success and to encourage artists the Government presents awards every year.

The Veteran film actor Shri Sayaji Shinde who was the guest of honour of the function said that those who aim to excel in art need strong will power. Winning award doesn’t mean a stop it is an inspiration and to progress further. He advised the young artists to set objective firmly and work hard to achieve success.  He also suggested  them to develop tendency to work hard and not to   compare themselves to others. and there after congratulated the winners of the awards

The Goans dance to the Hooting Owl.

Calangute, January 19th 2019: The party capital of India, Goa is now hooting the beats of the OWL. The Premium Nightclub was launched by T-Mark Hospitality, a joint venture by three youthful and energetic entrepreneurs Mr. Shikha Kumar, Mr. Trivesh Ajgaonkar and Ms Rhea Kumar. The grand launch was graced by dignitaries which included Mr. Michael Lobo, Deputy Speaker, Goa Legislative Assembly, Mr. Vijay Sardessai, Minister for Town & Country Planning, Mr. Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Revenue and Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar, Minister for Tourism.

Mr. Sahil Joshi, General Manager of the Owl Premium Club gave an overview of the owl. He said that the owl was not just a nightclub but more of an experience. The evening also witnessed the revelation of the clubs mascot ‘Mr. Hoot’, the energetic owl who never sleeps. Ms. Rhea Kumar, the mastermind behind the décor and interior described the unique concept of the owl. “I have put in a lot of thought into the creative element of the club. Every artwork, every sign has a hidden message. The Owl is not about partying alone, it’s about creating stories.” 

When asked how the nightclub benefits the Goans, Mr. Trivesh Ajgaonkar revealed, “We have taken care to ensure that Goans too benefit from this club. With the launch of this club we are hoping to create as many employment opportunities as possible for the Goans. In fact about 90% of the staff here are Goans. We will also be hosting the some of our local DJ to give us some of the best music ”

Talking about the lineups, Mr. Shikhar Kumar said “We have an exciting lineup for the coming week. We are introducing Owly Wednesday, the night dedicated to Women.  We are hoping to get both local and international DJ to perform. The Premium nightclub will bring new experiences to Goa. And we look forward to entertaining our party goers with the best we can offer.” Some of the interesting lineup for the week include Lost Stories & Dj Anish Sood on 18th January and DJ Aqeel and DJ Akhtar on 19th January.

Some of the interesting details incorporated in the club is the ‘Fantasy Well’, a dance area built over an existing well which is also perfect for photo-ops. The club also has a mini art gallery call Pablo which holds some of the most beautiful painting including the famous Beatles poster. With a wide dance area and beautiful interiors the Owl is the first night club in Goa to have the longest island bar. Keeping in mind the crowded roads and parking issues in Calangute, the club provides Valet Parking to all its patrons.

FOUNDATION STONE OF MADKAI SPORTS COMPLEX LAID

January 19, 2019  … Minister for PWD, Shri. Ramkrishna Dhavalikar today laid foundation stone of Madkai Sports Complex at Madkai village in Ponda Taluka. The complex which is a dream project of the Minister for PWD along with many others has a total built up area of 1992 sq mts is tendered to be completed in sum of Rs. 5.63 crores.

  Expressing his happiness on the occasion, Dhavalikar said that it’s a new beginning for all the villagers at the start of the New Year. “We all have worked hard towards having a full facilitated playing ground in this village since 2004. This is our first towards our dream and I appreciate the village panchayat for their immense support. The ground will be available for Cricket as well as Football tournaments and I also intend to build a swimming pool here,” Dhavalikar informed. He also urged the panch members to forget political rivalry and work for the betterment of the village. He also assured to build such grounds in surrounding village panchayat areas.

  Members of Zilla Panchayat Shri. Shivdas Gaude and Smt. Chitra Phadte, Sarpanch of Marcaim VP Smt. Deepa Avinash Naik, Chief Engineer of PWD Shri. Kulkarni, Architect Shri. Gomes, members of surrounding village Panchayat and villagers attended the function in large number.

 The function began with lighting of traditional lamp. Smt. Deepa Naik welcomed the gathering. Shri. Shivdas Naik also spoke on the occasion. Shri. Kulkarni briefed about the project. Shri. Girish Velguenkar compered the function while Shri. Yogesh Naik proposed the vote of thanks.

The complex consists of two buildings both ground plus one i.e. front and rear. The front building consists of spectator stand, recreation room, store, foyer, waiting area, office and toilet block for ladies and gents. The first floor will provide viewing gallery, pantry, room for Team 1 and Team 2, dining Hall for both the teams and toilet blocks, for ladies and gents.

The rear building consists of Multipurpose Hall with badminton court, three table tennis court, office and gym, instructor room, gymkhana and toilets. Both the buildings are provided with barrier access and lift.

GOVERNOR OF GOA TO LAUNCH CONSTITUTION WEEK

Panaji, January 18, 2019 … The Governor of Goa, Smt. Mridula Sinha will be launching the Constitution Week at Goa University on January 18,  2019 at 4.P.M. The event has been conceived by the Governor aiming to take the message of ‘We and the Constitution’ across the length and breadth of the state of Goa to the common people. It sensitizes the people about the need to know the Constitution and use it as an instrument to strengthen their rights and responsibilities.

The celebrations will see a week long programme to be organized across the various schools, colleges and the talukas all over Goa. There will be a special lecture by eminent expert on Constitution at the inaugural followed by a host of interactive sessions, quizzes, street-plays and elocution contests to be organized by students of V.M Salgaonkar College of Law, G.R Kare College of Law and Department of Political Science, Goa University. The events are being supported by Directorate of Higher Education, Directorate of Education, Directorate of Panchayats, Directorate of Art and Culture and North and South Goa Collectorates. The function will conclude at an event at Raj Bhavan where the prize winners will be felicitated.

SPEAKER LAYS FOUNDATION STONE FOR MODERN FIRE STATION AT BICHOLIM

Panaji, January 18, 2019 …  Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Dr. Pramod Sawant stressed on the developmental work that is in progress in the state and said Goa will be on top position in the field of infrastructure development. He was speaking after laying foundation stone for the proposed work of the construction of modern fire station at Bicholim yesterday.

Shri Rajesh Patnekar, MLA, Shri Rajaram Gaonkar, Chairperson, Bicholim Municipal Council, Shri Pravinjay Pandit, Mamlatdar, Shri Vallabh Salkar , Shri Ashok Menon, Director of Fire and Emergency Services were present on the occasion.

 Explaining about facilities at fire station, Shri Deepak Prabhu Pauskar, Chairman, GSIDC and MLA of Sanvordem said that modern facility is equipped at the modern fire station at Bicholim. He said the modern fire station shall include administrative offices, a training classroom, conference room, library, museum besides all this health and recreation spaces such as gymnasium, recreation room and TV room provision will be made available, he added.

Shri Ashok Menon, Director of Fire and Emergencies informed that the fire station will have modernized equipments.  This will not only cater to Bicholim but also surrounding areas as and when requirement arises.

 The estimated cost of the work is Rs. 11,27,90,204,00 and the project is scheduled for completion by June 1920.

INSURANCE COVER FOR GRIHA AADHAR SCHEME BENEFICIARIES

Panaji, January 17, 2019 … ..The Implementation of  Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSME) Support and Outreach Programme, all the Griha Aadhar Scheme beneficiaries under the Directorate of Women and Child Development receiving monthly financial assistance of Rs.1500/- are informed that Rs.12/- per annum will be deducted in the in the month of January as a premium amount for insurance cover under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima  Yojna (PMSBY).

Hence, all the Griha Aadhar beneficiaries are requested to register themselves for insurance cover under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima  Yojna (PMSBY) in the Bank Branch where they are receiving monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1500/- per month.

          Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima  Yojna (PMSBY) is a one year personal accident insurance scheme, renewable from year to yea, offering coverage for death disability due to an accident and is available to people in the age group of 18 to 70 years with a risk coverage of Rs.2 lakh for accidental death and permanent total disability and Rs.1lakh for permanent disability.    

PONDA WITNESSES CHHATRAPATI SHAMBHURAJE RAJYABHISHEK SOHLA

PONDA::: January 17, 2019…Citizens in Ponda witnessed a historic and mesmerizing ‘Chatrapati Shambhuraje Rajyabhishek Sohala’ at Farmangudi fort today. The event was organized by the Directorate of Art and Culture in association with Hindavi Swarajya Sangatan, Ponda and Chatrapati Shambhuraje Rajyabhishek Trust, Maharashtra to celebrate the coronation of Maratha king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Speaker Dr. Pramod Sawant was the Chief Guest while Minister for Art and Culture Shri. Govind Gaude presided over the function. Historian Shri. Bhagwanrao Chile, President of Chatrapati Shambhuraje Rajyabhishek Trust Shri. Amarsingh Jadhavrao, Member of Hindavi Swarajya Sanghtana Shri. Nandadeep Naik, DySP Smt. Sunita Sawant, Headmasters and Principals of local schools were present among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sawant urged students to inculcate patriotism and be obedient to their parents. “Many historians have portrayed Sambhaji Maharaj in a wrong manner. He was as powerful as his father and had profound respect for him and the nation. Today’s youth must learn these two things from the great king to become successful in life,” he said.
In his welcome address Minister Shri. Gaude opined that understanding the real character of Sambhaji Maharaj is the need of an hour. “Sambhaji was a true nationalist. He was as intelligent as his father Shivaji and was a warrior king. He was neither an alcoholic nor promiscuous; he was a very loyal Maratha soldier who tirelessly fought till his last breath. His devotion towards this nation and religion is very unique,” Gaude said.  The Minister added that in order to have more such warrior kings, capable Jijamata should be also born and not die in the womb; and every Indian leader must be celebrated in schools in order to pass our historical legacies to the younger generation.    

The function began early morning with Abhishek at Saptakotishwar Temple and at the statue of Sambhaji Maharaj.  MLA of Maem Constituency Shri. Pravin Zantye was present. The function at Farmagudi began with a rally in which Dhol Tasha pathak and Shivgarjana Mardani khel by a group of  artistes from Kolhapur were the two major attractions. This was followed Gadpooja (worshiping the fort) and dhwajpooja (flag hoisting). Shivrajyabhik was performed by Girl students of local schools by anointing water from 11 rivers onto the statue of Sambhaji Maharaj. An oil painting of Shivaji Maharaj performing Abhishek at Saptakotishwar temple and a portrait of Sambhaji Maharaj by artists Vishwanath Khilaari and Dinesh Kachi were released by the dignitaries on this occasion. An informative guest lecture by Historian Shri. Bhagawanrao Chile was also held on the occasion.

Shri. Govind Bhagat compered the function and proposed the vote of thanks.

PROJECTS PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT TO LOCALS, ARTISANS SOON:SHRI SALGAONKAR

Panaji, January 16, 2019 ….The Minister for Housing Board, RDA (Rural Development Agency) and Ports, Shri Jayesh Salgaonkar announced today that Goa will be having two ambitious projects soon under the RDA which would provide employment to locals, artisans and self-help groups. The Minister was speaking as the Chief Guest for the Panel Discussion ‘Livelihoods Security and Goa’ organized by Goa Livelihoods Forum, today. 

Shri Salgaonkar spoke about the proposed landmark projects-Goa Bazaar project and Global Village-which would be a place for locals to exhibit their works and for artisans from all over India to perform. This will be an eco-friendly project,” he said. Shri Salgaonkar also said this would be beneficial to even the Self-Help Groups, as they would be able to access a market for the things that they make.      


Shri Rajeev Dar from NASSCOM Foundation, Director of Caritas, Fr Maverick Fernandes, President of Goa Domestic Workers Union, Ms. Aruna Chari, President of Goa Mining Peoples Front, Shri Puti Gaonkar, Tourism Expert, Shri Sanjeev Sardessai were members on the panel discussion which was moderated by senior journalist Shri Prakash Kamat. 12th edition of D D Kosambi Festival of Ideas 2019 at Kala Academy from 20th to 23rd of Janaury 2019

Panaji 16th January 2019 …. The Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, to hold the12th edition of D D Kosambi Festival of Ideas 2019 at kala academy from 20th to 23rd of Janaury 2019

The D D Kosambi Festival of Ideas is scheduled to launch its 12th edition from January 20 to 23, 2019 at Kala Academy Goa, Panjim.

This year, the festival will feature noteworthy resource people like Malaika Vaz, Dr Mickey Mehta, Pralhad Kakar and Swami Smaranananda Giri.

Festival of Ideas is a popular festival held yearly, featuring eminent guests as speakers. Damodar Dharmananda Kosambi (1907–1966) has been an inspiration to many across the world, especially to Sanskrit philologists and Marxist scholars.

The Government of Goa instituted the annual D D Kosambi Festival of Ideas in February 2008 to commemorate his birth centenary.

Minister for Art and Culture Govind Gaude said that the basic idea behind organising this festival was to induce the growth of knowledge, educationally and generally.” The organisers have keenly picked out personalities to enrich the participants.

Malaika Vaz is a 21-year-old youth, a National Geographic explorer, adventurer and wildlife presenter. On the first day of the event, she will enlighten the public on her passion for adventure sports and environment. She will also speak on conservation and the popularisation of science.

 

The second day will feature Dr Mickey Mehta, a leading global holistic health guru and a corporate life coach. He has life-coached billionaires, politicians, Bollywood stars, Miss Worlds and Miss Universes. He will share light on the topic ‘From Harlem to Harvard’.

 

Pralhd Kakar, chairman and Founder of the Prahlad Kakar School of Branding and Entrepreneurship, will take the audience on a journey from ‘Goa-Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow’. He is also the Advertising Film Director for Genesis Films.

 

On the last day of the event, Swami Smaranananda Giri, the Vice President of Yogod Satsang Society of India, will speak on topic ‘Leading a Balanced and Joyous life Through Yoga- Meditation’. He has previously conducted a number of talks and interactive sessions throughout India and abroad.

The Festival of Ideas will be providing DVDs of the previous D D Kosambi event talks delivered by the speakers, at the venue. There will also be live broadcasts of the lectures on the Directorate of Art and Culture website.
