WORK SINCERELY, LOOK AFTER YOUR DEPENDENTS: CM

Panaji, July 03, 2019 …. The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant asked the people entering into Government service to be sincere and have a humanitarian approach when dealing with the public. Dr Sawant was speaking at the function where letters of appointment of candidates to Government service on Compassionate ground were distributed to beneficiaries at the Secretariat, recently. Also present was MLA, Shri Prasad Gaonkar.

Dr Sawant said, “When you join Government service, you have to be the ‘sevak’ of the people.” The Chief Minister asked the beneficiaries to look after the dependents of those on whose behalf they have got the Government job. Dr Sawant said, “If we receive any complaint, we will take strict action against those who do not look after their dependents because the reason why you are getting this job is on Compassionate ground, wherein the family has lost its breadwinner, who was a Government servant.”

Dr Sawant concluded by asking the beneficiaries to constantly upgrade their skills, as this will increase efficiency in the job.

A total of 74 beneficiaries were given the letters of appointment. The  objective  of  the  Scheme for compassionate  appointment is  to  grant appointment  on  compassionate  grounds  to  a dependent family member of a Government servant who  has  died  while  in  service  or  who  is retired  on medical  grounds  before  attaining  the prescribed age, thereby  leaving  the  family without any means of sustainable livelihood.

CM TELLS PEOPLE TO KEEP GOA CLEAN AND GREEN

Panaji. July 03, 2019  … Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has urged the youth and students to join in tree plantation in their neibhourwood, schools, parks and farmlands to make Goa Clean and Green.

Chief Minster was speaking on the occasion of inauguration and tree plantation drive of Van Mahotsav – 2019 at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali recently.

Others present on the occasion were Shri Subhash Chandra, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Shri Santoshkumar, Dy. Chief Conservator of Forests, Shri Sripad Arlekar, Member Secretary, Ravindra Bhavan, Shri Vithoba Ghadi, Vice Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister said, through the concerted efforts of schools and mass awareness programmes could do well to understand surrounding plants, trees, birds and wild animals and can identify the steps required for a sustainable eco development.

Speaking further Chief Minister said, Goa despite being on fast track of development has been able to protect its forest due to public support and social ethos. He said for a small state like Goa, it is a remarkable achievement to have good land under forest and tree cover and maintaining its rich biodiversity, which makes Goa special green paradise.

Keeping in mind the role of forests in human well being, the Chief Minster said, to learn the importance of forests and trees the Government has planned to celebrate vanamahotsava for entire month of July and August to sustained Goas greenery and to make Goa healthier and happier place for visitors.

Earlier ceremonial plantation programme was held and thereafter medicinal plants Mobile Van was launched at the hands of Chief Minister. Free medicinal plants were also distributed for public on the occasion.

Shri Subhash Chandra, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests welcomed the guest. Dr. Dayanand Rao compered and Shri Vithoba Ghadi proposed vote of thanks.

SHRI AJGAONKAR FELICITATES MERITORIOUS SSC 2018-19 STUDENTS

Panaji, July 02, 2019 … Deputy Chief Minister, Shri. Manohar Ajgaonkar recently felicitated the top rankers in SSC from Government High School Torxem and Government High School Gothanwada Ozarim who excelled in their Goa Board Exams of  2018-19 academic year.

Government High School Torxem achieved 97% result total 28 students were felicitated at the hands of  Deputy. Chef Minister.

 Zila Panchayat Member, Shri Ramesh Sawal, Headmistress of Government High School Torxem, Smt. Rajeshri Redkar, PTA President, Shri.Govind Naik, Smt.Sundari Naik,Smt.Pallavi Raul, Shri Vasant Shetye, Shri Vitho Mahale, Shri Santosh Kenkre, Shri Manohar Naik, Shri Suryakant Toraskar and Journalist, Shri Umesh Gad  were present on the occasion along with others.

 Similarly Government High School Gothanwada Ozarim achieved 94.11% result total 16 students were felicitated at the hands of Dy. Chief Minister Shri. Ajgaonkar.

 Principal of Government Higher Secondary Pernem, Shri Subhash Mandrekar, Headmistress of Government High School Gothanwada Ozarim, Smt. Mamta Naik, Ozarim Sarpanch, Smt. Sangeeta Gaonka, PTA Chairmen, Shri Harishchandra Shetye, PTA Treasurer, Shri Saajan Gad, Smt. Apparna Parab, Shri Arun Mayekar, Smt. Divya Kalangutkar and Shri Nilesh Shetye  were present on the occasion along with others.

 The Deputy Chief Minister, while speaking on the occasion, congratulated the meritorious students and appreciated the contribution of parents and teachers towards achieving this academic success. He further said along with academic studies parents and teachers should also encourage students to equally participate in sports so that students will explore their talent in the field of sports. 

Speaking on the occasion Shri Mandrekar said there is a need to guide SSC passed out students to opt proper stream in std XIth   in order to avoid difficulties in their further studies.

 

GOVERNOR INAUGURATES 1st NATIONAL WOMENS`  MASTERS  ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIP

Panaji : July 02,2019 … Governor of Goa Dr.(Smt) Mridula Sinha recently inaugurated 1st  National Womens` Masters  Athletic Championship held at Bambolim Athletic  Stadium. The Championship was organised by Goa Masters Athletic Association in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa, Masters Athletic Federation of India.

Governor lauded the efforts made by organisers to bring the sportswomen together from all over country and make the event come true. She expressed the need to organise Sports activities for women who are involved in the Self Help Groups in the State and explore their talent in the field of Sports too.

This Championship is first of its kind being held in Asia where in  sportswomen from all over India between age group of 35 to 85 yrs have participated.  Around 21 States including Goa has participated in the Championship.

Minister for PWD and Patron of the Organising Committee Shri. Deepak Pauskar expressed that, the Championship will play crucial role in building up confidence and moral of womanhood.

MLA and Chairman of Organising Committee of  the Championship Smt. Alina  Saldanha  in her welcome address Congratulated the womenfolk for participating in the event with great enthusiasm.

Secretary, Masters Athletic Federation of India Shri. David Premnath and founder of the Championship informed that, the Championship is being organise first time in the Asia. The main objective of the Championship to explore the strength and talent of the woman who works in several capacities throughout her life, he added.

Director, Sports and Youth Affairs Smt. Anjali Sehrawat (IAS), Vice Chairman, Organising Committee of the Championship and President Women Self Help Group of Goa Smt. Dharamveer Dhillon were present on the occasion.

Brass band team comprising of girls from St.Tereza High School Raia, Salcete played brass band on the occasion. Students of Sanjay School, Porvorim and Girls from Mary Immaculate High School, Panjim performed cultural dance and Gymnasium respectively.

CHIEF MINISTER REVIEWES PROGRAMES UNDER DISTRICT MINERAL FUND

Panaji. July 01, 2019 … Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant reviewed the progress of various programs which are undertaken and planned under District Mineral Fund at a meeting held at Secretariat recently.

          The other areas which were reviewed included improvement of water supply, providing transport facilities to school children, creating self employment opportunities and desilting of paddy fields to rejuvenate agriculture.

The meeting also discussed some of the key initiatives to be planned in mining areas for implementation.

The meeting was attended by MLAs Shri Joshua D’Souza, Shri Prasad Gaonkar, Shri Glen Souza Ticlo, Shri Carlos Almeida, Shri Pravin Zantye, Shri Parimal Rai, IAS, Chief Secretary, Collectors of North and South and other senior Officers of the Government.

Awareness Programme on Schemes for Welfare of Minorities held

Panaji: June 30, 2019 … Chairman for National Commission for Minorities, Government of India Shri Syed Ghayorul Hasan Rizvi attended the Awareness Programme on Schemes for the Welfare of Minorities organized by Department of Social Welfare and held at Mathany Saldana Administrative Complex (MSAC), Margao recently.

Director of Department of Social Welfare Shri Parag Nagarsekar, Dy Director Shri Santano Fernandes, Assistant Director Shri Sudesh Gaude and Chairman of Goa State Minority Finance and Development Corporation also attended the programme.

The Chairman of National Commission for Minorities in his address said that the present central Government is for “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas and now Sabka Vishwas. To win the confidence of the people, Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi has given 100 days programme /work to every ministry and has prepared road map accordingly.

Giving details about the Schemes for minorities Shri Rizvi gave insight on some of the major schemes implemented by commission such as Nai Roshni which mainly for leadership Development for Minority women.

Shri Rizvi said that, second scheme which is mainly meant for Gents is Seekho aur Kamao (Learn and Earn) which provides platform to the younger generation to give them much needed exposure and exhibit their talent.

Shri Rizvi Further informed that the central Government has plans to provide stipend for minorities to the tune of Rs.1 crore yearly which is for five years  and also to increase the scholarship amount to minorities students from Rs.1000/-

Shri Rizvi said Naya Savera scheme provides free coaching and allied scheme for the candidates / students belonging to minority communities. The scheme aims to empower the students belonging to minority communities and prepare them for competitive examinations, so that their participation in government and private jobs improves. He also disclosed that one civil service coaching center will be set up in Goa.

Speaking further shri Rizvi said that Commission has made provision for minority students who are leaving the school after 5th or 6th standard who can complete their further studies through Maulana Azad Education Foundation (http://www.maef.nic.in/). He also requested to refer commission website i.e. www.ncm.nic.in and view all the schemes provided for minorities and take maximum benefit of same. Schemes for Minorities are very transparent and zero tolerance for corruption and one need to apply to take benefit of same through proper channel he added.

Shri Rizvi further said that central Govt. has plans to construct 100 residential schools which mean at least one residential school in every state.

Earlier Representatives from various Departments which includes Department of Women and Child Development, Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department, Director of Education, District Rural Development Agency Department, and Directorate of Social Welfare Department gave presentation and explained major schemes meant for minority community.

Smt. Supriya, District Welfare Officer of Social Welfare Department proposed the vote of thanks.

MEETING HELD TO REVIEW SCHEMES FOR MINORITIES

Panaji, June 29, 2019 …. The Chairperson of National Commission for Minorities, Government of India, Shri Syed Ghayorul Hasan Rizvi who is in Goa to review welfare schemes for minorities in the State has said that the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister, is firm on its resolve for inclusive development. While chairing a meet at the Secretariat in Porvorim, recently, held a meeting to review the implementation of the schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), Shri Rizvi recalled the statement made by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi after assuming office in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas”, wherein he said that the Government was keen on ensuring minorities do not lag behind in any sector.

Representatives from various state Departments/bodies like the Department of Social Welfare, District Rural Development Agency, Directorate of Women and Child Development, Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Directorate of Education, etc briefed Shri Rizvi on the various schemes being implemented by their respective Departments.

Shri Rizvi informed about the Central Government schemes, some of which are new, that are for benefit of minorities such as the concept of Bridge courses for drop outs, coaching for minorities for competitive exams, etc.

Shri Rizvi suggested that the District Level Committees in North and South Goa formed to discuss minority-related  issues, invite well –known people from the minority community as guest members so that greater awareness on the benefits offered to minorities is created and so also important feedback from the community is conveyed to the committee.

Present on the occasion were Secretary of Social Welfare, Shri W.V.R. Murthy, IAS, among others.

CM INAUGURATES WHEEL CHAIR LIFT FOR SCHOOL BUS  OF SANJAY CENTER

Panaji: June 28,2019 … A warm felicitation was accorded to the students of Sanjay Centre for Special Education, who have excelled in their Goa Board exams of March 2018-19 academic year.  The 46 students of first batch of SSC and 16 students from Higher Secondary section were felicitated at the hands of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, The function was organized by Sanjay Centre for Special Education  at Porvorim  recently

The Chief Minister while speaking on the occasion said that, special children are important segment of the society and are required to be brought in the main stream of the society. The Government has implemented various schemes for their education, training, their skill development so as to make them  live  a dignified life.

The Chief Minister said Sajay Center of Education has witnessed change since its inception and admired the staff, teachers for having shown their patience, commitment, dedication towards the development of the students. He also appreciated the efforts of the Board Members towards the progress of institution. He suggested  to start Divyang Cell and asked to submit proposal. He called for the need of enhancement of skill among special children for which he said two skill development centres’ one each   in  North and  South Goa can  be started with  a permanent hostel for their better living. Training through skill development centre will help special children to secure jobs to become self reliant.  He also congratulated the students for their bright success.

The Secretary for Education Smt. Neela Mohanan ( ( IAS ) who was the guest of honour  for the function  appreciated  Rotary Club Panaji Midtown for providing hydraulic wheel chair lift for school bus of Sanjay Centre. She appreciated the staff, teachers and others for their endeavour to desire goal of Sanjay Centre. She congratulated the students for their excellence in their respective academic exams.

BE MORE VIGILANT WHILE BUYING FOOD PRODUCTS :GOVIND GAUDE

Panaji: June 27,2019 … Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Shri. Govind Gaude today cautioned consumers to become more vigilant while buying packaged and outdoor food items and urged consumers not to hesitate to complaint before  various consumer forums if found anything fishy about the product. He was speaking after inaugurating an programme held on the Occasion of State Consumer Rights Day organised by the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs at Sankruti Bhavan, Patto, Panjim recently.

Speaking on the occasion Shri. Gaude opined that, Safety of the Consumer in every aspect should be given utmost importance and for that matter significant importance need to be given for awareness activities so that interests of consumers are safeguarded.

Inaugural session was followed by presentation on the theme  LPG Gas cylinder : Safety Measures and precautions. Wherein Sales Officer, HPCL Shri. Resham Mittal, Proprietor, Nagesh Malalaxmi Gas Services Shri. Siddharth Palang and Consumer Activist Shri. Roland Martins enlightened the audience about various aspects of LPG Gas.

CHIEF MINISTER CONDOLES DEATH OF MOHAN RANADE

Panaji:: June 26, 2019  …Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant has expressed grief over the sad demise of eminent author and Veteran freedom fighter Shri Mohan Ranade, who passed away at the age of 89 in Pune.

Expressing his condolences the Chief Minister has said, apart from being an eminent author, Shri Ranade has contributed immensely during the struggle movement of Goa and was imprisoned for 14 years.

Shri Ranade was honoured with Padmashree in 2001 and later in 2006 he was conferred with Sangli Bhushan.

The Chief Minister, Dr. Sawant has conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family members of Shri Ranade.
