GOMANTAK BHANDARI SAMAJ MEETS CM OVER MIGRANTS CHANGING SURNAMES

Panaji : July 10, 2019 … Gomantak Bhandari Samaj proposed to amend The Goa Change of names and surnames act 1990`to restrain migrants in the State from changing their surname to Goan Surnames. Delegation of Gomantak Bhandari Samaj recently called upon by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant  at Panaji and submitted representation demanding amendment in the Act.

            Gomantak Bhandari Samaj in its representation observed that, Migrant communities in Goa resort to change of surname to Naik which is common surname of Gomantak Bhandari community members. The Samaj further informed that, activities of change of surnames mostly carried out in Bardez, Mormugao and Salcete Talukas and strongly opposed such activities as it could detrimental to the image of Gomantak Bhandari Samaj.

            Samaj also demanded that matters related to changing of surnames by migrants to be referred to the samaj for confirmation.

CM SEEKS SUPPORT OF THE PEOPLE FOR EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF SCHEMES

PANAJI, Dated July 09, 2019 … Chief Minister Dr.Pramod Sawant has appealed to the people to support the endeavors of the Government to percolate down the benefits of welfare schemes at the grassroot level and to enable needy and deserving people to avail the benefits of these schemes. .

Dr. Sawant was speaking after inaugurating special enrollment  Camp organized at Shree Laxmi Narayan Temple Hall at Navelim in Bicholim taluka recently,

Menaka, IAS, Collector, North Goa, Shri Sachin Desai, Deputy Collector, Bicholim, Shri Pravinjay Pandit, Mamlatdar, Bicholim, Shri Rohidas Kansekar, Navelim Sarpanch, Smt. Sanghavi Fadte, Sarpanch Amona,  Dr. Balkrishna Pai, Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Dr. Chandrakant Shetye, Dattaram Chimulkar, Programe Coordinator, Dr  Bale, Shri Chandrakant Gawas, Secretary, Shree Laxminarayan Devasthan, Shri Pradeep Gaude, Vishwamber Gawas graced the occasion.

Speaking further, Chief Minister said in a population of around 15 lakhs in Goa only 2 lakhs people has derived the benefits of the schemes and it is therefore necessary to ensure effective implementation of the schemes to uplift the living condition of the common man. He further urged to avail benefits of centrally located welfare schemes initiated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Shri Rohidas Kansekar welcomed the guests.

Shri Pravinjay Pandit briefed about the motto behind organizing the  mega enrollment and medical camp for the villagers. Shri Balkrishna Pai briefed on DDSY scheme.

Total 167 people were enrolled into the welfare schemes and total 233 people were examined during the medical camp

DY. CM FELICITATES MERITORIOUS STUDENTS

Panaji, July 08, 2019 …. A warm felicitation was accorded to the students of Sateri Vidya Mandir Ibrampur , who have excelled in their  March 2019 SSC Board  exams.  Among 24 students who had appeared for the exam 4 among them secured distinction while 12 secured first class. The meritorious students were recently felicitated by Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Manohar (Babu ) Ajgaonkar. The function was organized by the Management of  Sateri Vidya Mandir in collaboration with Lupin Foundation, Parents Teachers Association etc

The Deputy Chief Minister while speaking on the occasion  said  that the students,  particularly in rural areas depend  solely on the teachers for guidance . He suggested that the teachers work for the holistic development of the student. Shri Ajgaonkar expressed his happiness over the success of  the school  securing 100% result in this academic year.

General Manager  Lupin Foundation Shri Gurudatt Bhatt who was the guest of honour in his address congratulated the  students and the staff for their excellent performance. He said we have to work to raise the standard of education in rural areas. This is the area where teachers have to play an important  role. He said that the results achieved  by  this school is on par with  that of urban school and therefore the staff  and teachers are worthy  of praise and appreciation.

As a part of celebration of Vanamahotsava various plants were planted by the dignitaries.  Shri K.Munda Dy.GM (H R),  Lupin Foundation, Shri  Dipak Shirodkar, President of PTA,Shri  Rajaram Gawas, Chairman School Management Committee, Shri Madhukar Sawant, Manager, Shri Francis Fernandes ,Co-Ordinator Lupin Foundation,Shri Camilo Fernandes, Ex-Sarpanch and other members of management, teachers, staff, were  among those who attended the function.

The toppers Mast  Vithal Shankar Sutar scored77%, Miss  Sakshi Dhauskar  78. 83%,   Miss Riya Rupesh Kubal  79%,   Miss. Riya Dnyanesgwar Taari  79.66%  were felicitated by Shri Ajgaonkar.

        Shri Subhash  Sawant ,Head master of the school was felicitated for securing State Teachers Award for the year 2017-18 academic year.

        Miss Riya Kubal was honoured as the best student  for year 2018-19.

Shri Dipak Shirodkar, Chairman PTA, Shri Madhukar Sawant , Manager of School Management Committee both praised the students,  teachers and  staff of the  school.

A REVOLUTION IN EDUCATION SYSTEM SOON: CM

Panaji, July 07, 2019 … The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant said that the State Government was going to implement several measures to bring about a revolution in the education sector in Goa. Dr Sawant was speaking  at the function to felicitate meritorious SSC students of Mushtifund High School in Cujira, today. The Chief Minister however, said that for this, the support of the people was important.

Dr Sawant said that the Government is focusing on starting career-oriented courses, and would lay stress on skill education. He said that holding aptitude tests for students was very important so that the student can choose their appropriate field of study and career.

He assured the management of resolving pending issues faced by the school.

The felicitation function was organised by the management of the Mushtifund Saunstha and Mushtifund High School’s Parent-Teacher Association. Earlier, the President of Mushtifund Saunstha, Shri Anil Counto briefed the gathering about the school’s progress.

CHIEF MINISTER HIGHLIGHTS SIGNIFICANCE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

Panaji, July 6, 2019 … Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has said that Information and Communication technology(ICT) is a key factor not only at the Macro in the process of globalisation but also at the Micro level where the increased use of mobile phones.  He said in order to promote Indian ICT industry the government of India has setup a National task force on ICT and software development to examine the feasibility of strengthening the industry along with providing measure physical incentives with the aim to transform India in to a truly developed and empowered society by 2020.

Speaking as Chief Guest after inaugurating two days 4th International conference on ICT for sustainable development in concurrent with ICT Awards the Excellencia co–located with world Publication and Conference Summit 2019  in the city last evening the Chief Minister said the Department of Information and Technology has been created by the Goa State for evolving suitable Information and Technology programme with the basic philosophy to realise the dream of taking the benefit of Information and Communication technology to the masses of Goa.  He said despite being a small state Goa is ideally placed to capitalised on the opportunities available in the sector.  Goa he said is one of the most literate state in India with a literacy of 88.7 percent.

The Chief Minister said there are more than 250 IT Companies in Goa, out of which 70 percent of companies are in the start-up space.  He said priority of the state government includes creation of world class IT infrastructure and connectivity for e-governance in the state of Goa, to serve as a enabler for promotion of IT industry in Goa besides promotion of e-governance, e-education and streamlining of IT in Goa as a way of life.

Earlier, Chief Minister presented ICT Awards for Excellencia to the representatives of the company.

 Prof. Mike Hinchey, President IFIP and Chair IEEE, UK & Ireland, Prof Milan Tuba, Vice Rector for International Relations, Singidunum University, Serbia, Shri Amit Joshi, Director, G R Foundation also spoke on the occasion.

SHRI RANE INAUGURATES MICROSCOPIC UNIT AT MICROBIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Panaji, July 5, 2019 …Minister for Health, Shri Vishwajit Rane inaugurated Microscopic unit at Microbiology Department at the Goa Medical College  Bambolim (GMC) recently.

 Addressing the gathering Shri Rane expressed his happiness over the provision of Microscopic unit at Microbiology Department and said, in order to provide adequate medical services and to make the hospital equipped with super special facilities the government is making continuous efforts to provide required equipments in the hospital. The objective behind this is that the patients should get the best treatment. He further urged doctors to go beyond routine duties and work towards combating life threatening diseases like cancer which is rapidly increasing in the State.

COMMITTEE FORMED TO ABSORB ELECTRONIC MEDIA SCRIBES IN GUJ

Panaji July 05, 2019 ::: In an attempt to include journalists’ representing electronic media as members of the Goa Union of Journalists’, the Executive Committee of GUJ appointed a special six member committee under the chairmanship of GUJ President Rajtilak Naik.

The other members of the committee are Vasudev Pagi (GUJ General Secretary), Audumber Shinde (GUJ Executive Committee member), Sandesh Prabhudesai (Consulting Editor-Goa 365), Kanzil Rodriguez (GUJ Executive Committee member) and Loukik Shilkar (Senior reporter- Prudent Media).

The committee will prepare a report considering various aspects and submit the report on a fast track basis to the GUJ Executive Committee. The report will be then put before the special AGM to make necessary amendment in the GUJ constitution by which the long pending demand of the electronic media scribes will be fulfilled. The committee was formed during the first meeting of the GUJ Executive Committee held in Panaji on Wednesday.

Another six member committee has been formed which will work in resolving the journalist pension scheme. The members of the committee are GUJ President Rajtilak Naik (Chairman), Vasudev Pagi, Kishor Naik Gaonkar, Gerard D’cunha, Ganesh Shetkar, and Pramod Thakur.

The Executive Committee also resolved to co-opt six new members including two women representatives in the committee. The co-opted members are Teja Arondekar (Dainik Herald), Pradnya Rane (The Goan), Marcos Gonsalves (Gomantak Times), Narayan Pissurlenkar (The Goan), Mahesh Gaonkar (Navaprabha), and Marcus Mergulhao (The Times of India).

Panaji July 05, 2019 :: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has said that Government is committed to create adequate infrastructure for the industry from Mopa Airport to the third bridge across mandovi river and further mentioned that Goa will be the best Infrastructure State in coming years as against other states from India.

Shri Sawant was speaking at a function on Orange Business Excellence Awards 2019 organized by 93.5 FM Radio Orange held at Cavelossim in Salcete taluka recently. The Chief Minister Congratulated the recipient of the awards and said it is the victory of Orange Radio. Orange radio is very much famous in Sangli  and Ankola  in Maharastra he added.

Shri Sawant further said that he is very much impressed that award is given in various fields from medical to manufacturing sector and from the service oriented to transport. The one who gets award for the work in any field of society gets encouraged and also gets much needed boost to work more and more for the society.  One has to do something for the society. Awardees deserve it and it shows their commitment towards the society the Chief Minister asserted .

Chief Minister also invited Orange Radio in Goa and said it will offer boost and strengthen the economy of the State. Goa have its own Investment Promotional Board through which Govt. always welcomes new industries and start-ups he added.

STUDENTS MUST BE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN SPORTS – SHRI AJGAONKAR

Headmaster of Government High School Hankhane, Shri Dadu Parab, Hankhane  Sarpanch, Smt. Sonali Pawar,PTA President, Shri Lau Naik,Shri Krishna Naik, Shri Attmaram Naik, Smt. Shamal Sawant, Shri Digambar Naik  were present on the occasion along with others.

Government High School Hankhane has achieved 100% result for continues five years. This year four students got distinction and eight students got first class while remaining students passed with second class. All the students were felicitated by Deputy. Chief Minister.

WEEKLY REVIEW OF PRICES AND SUPPLY OF  IMPORTANT  ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES

Panaji: July 04, 2019 … The statement of market price are intimated by the Office Registrar of Co-operatative Societies of important essential commodities in Panaji, for the week ending June 25, 2019.

In wholesale, the prices of moong dal, gram kabuli big decreased by Rs.300/-, Rs.200/- to Rs.500/- per quintal respectively and vegetables ghee ‘Ruchi’ by Rs.50/- per 15 liters. Potatoes increased by Rs.200/- per quintal and eggs large by Rs.30/- per 100 nos. during the week.

In retail the prices of important essential commodities like parboiled  rice outside, raw rice common, wheat shivri, turdal barshi, gramdal, moong, sugar S-30, gur fine, sunflower oil, rawa, maida,  green peas, onions, tomatoes, chillies green and banana (Vassai) remained steady during the week.

In retail, the prices of rawa increased by Re.1/- to rs.2/- per kilo and eggs large by Rs.3/- to rs4/- per dozen during the week.

In retail the prices of important essential commodities like parboiled  rice local, parboiled rice outside, raw rice common, wheat khandva, wheat Shivri, jowar shalu, turdal Barshi, moongdal, moong, gram Kabuli big, sugar S-30, gur fine sunflower oil, coconut oil, vegetable ghee ‘Dalda’, maida, green peas, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, chillies green and banana (Vassai) remained steady during the week.

The increased and decreased in wholesale prices and increased in retail prices were due to increase and decrease in wholesale price in supplying markets.

The supply position of important essential commodities were normal during the week, except that of parboiled rice local, jawar shalu and coconut oil  the arrival of which was not noticed during the week.
