SHRI. RANE ASKS WOMEN JOURNALISTS TO WORK FEARLESSLY AND FEEL EMPOWERED

Panaji:: July 20, 2019  …“Be strong, believe in yourself and move forward. Be fearless and ask questions without hesitation. Stand-up for your own issues and raise your voice for a right cause. That’s when you will feel safe and empowered,” Minister for Women and Child Development Shri. Vishwajit Rane said while addressing women journalist at ‘Empowering Women Journalists’, a workshop organized by Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) in association with Directorate of Women and Child Development. The half-day workshop was held in Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji recently.

Speaking as the Chief Guest for the function the Minister opined that young and aspiring journalists should engage with senior journalists from Goa, share views, and try to imbibe what the seniors have stood for past so many years.”

Speaking further he added that empowering Women’s Commission in Goa will be the Government’s prime motive. “The Commission will be revamped soon and have more professionals on board. These Commissions must be used judiciously. We shall create a powerful Institution which will discuss, deliberate and address women’ grievances and protect their interest. A team to work on Women’s Commission Bill is formed. Students from the Universities and Colleges will be soon engaged in the process to create a think tank which will, in turn, help us to take corrective measures.”

Shri. Deepak Desai and Smt. Meghna Shetgaonkar, Directors of Directorate of Women and Development and Department of Information and Publicity respectively were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, Shri. Rajtilak Naik, President, GUJ welcomed the gathering. Smt. Shetgaonkar also spoke on the occasion. The Minister felicitated senior journalists Smt. Devika Sequiera and Smt. Suhasini Prabhugaonkar.

The workshop comprised of an interactive session with Prof. Anita Haldi, who spoke on ‘Sexual harassment at workplace’. Later, Shri. Deepak Desai sensitized the gathering on women and children issues faced in the state. Shri. Pravin Sabnis, a Life Coach conducted a training program on ‘team building and self-realization’. The participants were given certificates and mementos at the end of the programs. Shri. Vassudeo Pagi, Secretary, GUJ proposed the vote of thanks

GOVERNOR CALLS FOR BETTER RAPPORT BETWEEN PARENTS AND TEACHERS

Panaji: 19th July 2019:: The Governor of Goa Dr. Smt. Mridula Sinha has said that better rapport between Parents and Teachers can help identify the hidden talent among the students which she mentioned can help them to achieve excellence in varied fields and prosper in life.

Addressing the gathering after presenting medals and certificates to 42 students of Indian School Certificate (ISC) and 175 students of Indian Certificate of Secondary Examination (ICSE) at a function of graduation day 2019 of Sharada Mandir School held at Kala Academy in the city recently.

Speaking further the Governor said that Teachers are imparting quality education to the students. The dedicated efforts put in by the teachers in imparting education to the students help them to come out with flying colours in the examinations and bring laurels to the institute as well as earn name and fame at state and national level. The students when they pass out from the institution should channelize their energies and contribute to accomplish the vision for new India of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The Governor said it is the healthy sign to note that girls are performing better in all spheres of life. She said now various opportunities are available to girls students and therefore they should come forward to attain greater heights in life. Parents should encourage their wards to participate actively in extra curricular activities rather than devoting and concentrating more in securing  100  percent marks in the  examinations.

The Chairman of Sharda Mandir School Shri Dattaraj Salgaonkar opined that one should  live in himself or herself to gain confidence in life. He thanked to the parents for reposing faith in the management of the school.

 The Governor presented medals besides certificates to those who excelled in Humanities and Commerce stream. Smt. Deepti Salgaonkar vice chairperson   graced the occasion.

TRANSPORT MINISTER INAUGURATES NEW PREMISES FOR ADT VASCO

Panaji: July 18,2019 … Minister for Transport Shri Mauvin Godinho has said that the Government is  committed to provide better services and facilities  to the people and therefore strives for digitization. This he said will provide better access to public in getting their required services at their doorsteps in a best possible short time.

Shri Godinho was speaking as the chief guest after inaugurating  of new premises of Assistant Director of Transport at Vasco recently.

Shri Godinho said that there is a scope for improvement in various areas in this office which he said would be done soon with the purpose to streamline and smooth functioning of the office. The Government gives subsidy under 15 components and he,said and told the staff to work on this aspect as well. The citizen service centre would function through this office he informed.  Although the office is shifted here is not sufficient but looking for bigger place in future he informed.

The Chairman of VMC Shri Nandadip Raut lauded the work of shifting of ADT office and housing the same in a new premises for the access of people and to provide them necessary services. He reminded that this office where it was earlier wasn’t have proper parking place, a congested one due to which people used to suffer.  But due to shifting of this office and provision of digital services will definitely give solace to the people he added.

  The Director of Transport Shri Rajan Satardekar  while addressing the gathering said the ADT office has been shifted for the convenience of the people. The old office will be retain for records. While shifting the said office many aspects have been taken into consideration like space, interior of the office, place for parking etc. He appreciated the endeavour of those who were instrumental in making  this work of new premises  a  reality.

Shri Sandip Dhargalkar became the first  person to receive his licence and Shri Ankur Yadav also become the first person beneficiary  to get his learning licence. Both were presented licence document at the hands of Minister.

GOVERNMENT IS COMMITTED TOWARDS BEST HEALTH FACILITIES :RANE

Panaji::: July 17,2019 …The Government is committed to provide better health facilities to the people of Goa and therefore striving hard to strengthen infrastructure for health sector stated Minister for Health, Shri Vishwajit Rane. He was speaking at an inauguration programme of canteen facility for Girls Hostel at Goa Medical College & Hopspital Bambolim held recently.

The Government through Sodex Quality of Life Services has started canteen facility to cater to the needs of the student and others.

Shri Rane further said that the Government is of the opinion that the students  studying in GMC should not face any difficulty. Therefore  the Government recently have provided canteen for boys as well have objective to make  quality food available to the students studying in GMC

Dean & Medical Superintendant GMC, Prof. Dr.Shivanand Bandekar, OSD to Health Minister, Dr. Rajnanda Desai, Professor  Head of Department of Paediatrics, Dr. Mimi Silveira , and other HODs, staff attended the function.

WORLD POPULATION DAY OBSERVED

Panaji, July 16, 2019 … The State Family Welfare Bureau, Directorate of Health Services in collaboration with Goa Science Centre and Planetarium, recently observed World Population  Day at the State level function held at Miramar .

The theme for the function was “Parivar Niyojan Se Nibhaye Zimmedari, maa aur bachhe ke swashtya ki puri tayyari’’.

The Deputy Director, Directorate of Health Services (Public Health), Dr. Geeta Kakodkar, speaking on the occasion said that due to increase in population created several problems like quick depletion of resources which are limited, etc. So a growing population should be a concern to all of us she added.

 Dr. Vandana Dhume, Project Coordinator, GSCP. Shri. Venkata Durga Prasad K., Project Director, GSACS, Dr. Siona  Gomes and DIO, SFWB, DHS, Dr. Doreen Noronha were present on the occasion.

CMO-SFWB, Dr.Vandan Dhume speaking on the occasion about the importance of world population day said that every year the Government through DHS observes World Population Day to assess the population and decide the initiatives to be taken to combat the issue and sensitize the people about cause and effects of increasing population and measures to be taken to control the same .

 Dr. Dhume thereafter presented the annual report of events, activities carried out during the entire year by the State Family Welfare Bureau. The activities and events were held to draw the attention of masses so as to work together on the issues of the growing population she added.   

On the occasion, various awards were presented to prize winners such as Kayakalp awards, Awards for Dance and Greeting Cards, Awards for essay and Best IEC activities on IDCF and World Population day Award.

Shri Umesh Kholkar compered the function while Shri. Venkata Durga Prasad K. Welcomed the gathering and Education Assistant GSCP, Smt. Sampada Parab proposed the vote of thanks.

APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR YUVA PRATIBHA PURASKAR

Panaji: July 15, 2019…  The Directorate of Art & Culture in collaboration with West Zone Culture Centre, Udaipur presents “Yuva Pratibha Puraskar” every year to the youths in the age group of 18 to 30 years from the field of Traditional Goan Folk Instrumental music, Folk Dance, Folk Singing and Folk theatre.

          The west Zone Culture Centre, Udaipur will honour the four young artists by presenting the “Yuva Pratibha Puraskar” comprising of a certificate and cash of Rs. 10,000/-(Rupees Ten Thousand Only) each.

          The Yuva Pratibha Puraskar is presented to the young talents who have gained knowledge in the field of folk forms and has contributed in the field of folk i.e traditional Goan Folk Instrumental Music, Folk Dance, Folk Singing and Folk theatre.

          The interested artist should submit their applications with detailed Bio-Data to the Directorate of Art & Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji-Goa on or before July 19, 2019. APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR NON-OFFICIAL ADVISORY BODY

Panaji: July 14, 2019.. … Directorate of Women & Child Development has decided to constitute Non-Official Advisory Body for North and South Goa to assist Special Police Officers in the implementation under section 13 (3) 9b) of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 in Goa.

          For appointment of a member to Non- Official Advisory body, the member should have the qualification of working with children and women in the field of Education, health or welfare activities, or should be practicing professional with a degree in child psychology or psychiatry or social work or sociology or human development or in the field of law or a retired judicial quasi judicial officer retired Government servant.

          The services of the member will be called by the Special Police Officers as and when they need to assist in the implementation of Immoral Traffic prevention Act, 1956. The service of the member will be on voluntary basis and he/she will not be entitled to any allowances/honorarium. Member from the residential district will be considered for the constitution of the above body for that particular district (North/South) Goa. knowledge of the Konkani, Marathi, Hindi and English will be preferred.

          Person(s) from Non-Government Organization who is interested for appointment as Member for the Non official Advisory Body can submit their application as per the Performa which is available in the office of Directorate of Women & Child Development Office and also on the website www.dwcd.goa.gov.in with 2 copies of colour photographs and self attested copies of all qualification certificates, Birth Certificate and other documents along with names, addresses and contact numbers of two reference of reputed persons in the State should be submitted on or before August 2, 2019.   

SHRI GAUDE CALLS TO IMPLEMENT PREVENTION OF ATROCITIES AND FOREST RIGHTS ACT

Panaji: July 13, 2019 ..Minister for Tribal Welfare Shri Govind Gaude inaugurated a Work Shop on Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and Forest rights Act 2006 at Ravindra Bhavan Margao recently.

          Speaking on the occasion the Minister said, Government officers should strive and put in dedicated efforts to implement prevention of atrocities Act 1989 and Forest Rights Act 2006 and submit the detailed report within a period of 20 days. He cautioned that any negligence in the implementation of the act will not be tolerated.

          Speaking further the Minister said, the performance of the officers depend upon the output.  All officers have to perform and show their output, in case of any difficulty government will support them but they should not cause inconvenience to poor people. Proper administration coupled with proper planning yield positive results, he added.

Commissioner of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Shri Prakash Velip expressed his views on the occasion. He thanked the government for formation of SC/ST commission.

          President of Ravindra Bhavan Shri Prashant Naik said due to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Commission People belonging to poorest section are holding higher position in public sector.He said Government officials should be supportive to the public When they visit government offices for works.

          Dr. Uday Gaonkar, Dy Director of Education said people living in forest areas helping to preserve traditional plants in the forest.

RATION QUOTA FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST, 2019

Panaji, July 12, 2019 ….The Department of Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs has allotted ration quota for August, 2019 under National Food Security Act 2013 for  Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) cardholders 35 kg. rice per card for Rs. 3/- and Sugar 1 Kg for Rs. 13.50/- and  Annapurna (ANP) cardholder will get 10 kg. rice per card (Free of cost). The Welfare Institution Scheme cardholder will get Rice for Rs. 6.15/- and wheat for Rs. 4.80/- as allotted.  Similarly the Priority Households (PHH) will get 5 kg. Rice per card for Rs. 3/-, Above Poverty line (APL) will get 8 kg. Rice per card for Rs. 12.50/- and 5 kg wheat per card for Rs.10/-

          All the fair price shop owners are informed that the quota lifting should start with immediate effect on or before July 31, 2019. It has stated that, no extension would be granted for lifting. The fair price shops are required to display the details of stock as well as sample quality of grains for consumer information.  The ration cardholders are required to take their entitlement for August, 2019 from their respective Fair Price Shops. 

All cardholders/consumers are advised to give their complaints if any to their respective Mamlatdar of the talukas or Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Junta House, Panaji. 

CM INAUGURATES NCDC WORKSHOP

Panaji, July 11, 2019  … Chief Minister Shri Pramod Sawant inaugurated National Co-operative Development Corporation (NCDC) workshop organized by Department of Co-operation in collaboration with National Cooperative Development Co-operation at Taleigao recently.

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant was the Chief Guest for the function while Minister for Co-operation, Shri. Govind Gaude was the Guest of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Sawant said NCDC is funding Rs. 650 crore to Department of Co-operation Goa accordingly Government will be appointing a panel of a consultant to help Co-operative Societies to prepare their proposal in order to utilize these funds. Through these projects Co-operative societies can generate employment to Goans he added and urged them to move towards the growth of co-operative societies with the help of NCDC.

Addressing the gathering Shri Gaude said this NCDC workshop is an opportunity for us as they will guide and support us to come out with something from nothing. Only dedication and hard work are needed. Today, there is a need to take the co-operative movement forward, he added.

NCDC Adviser Shri S. K. Tucker gave a brief presentation on strategy for comprehensive development of the co-operative sector in Goa.

Present on the occasion among others were secretary for Co-operation, Shri W.V.R Murthy, IAS, Registrar of Co-Operation, Director for Co-operation, Shri Menino D’Souza, NCDC, Executive Director, Shri K. K Choudhary, NCDC Chief Director, Smt. Deepa Shrivtsav.
