FDA IMPOSES PENALTY FOR MANUFACTURING AND SELLING SUB-STANDARD CASHEWNUTS

Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration has informed that the District Collector, North Goa and South Goa in the capacity of Adjudicating Officer under Food Safety and Standards Act have disposed off, one case each in which the manufacturer and the seller have been imposed with penalties for manufacturing and selling sub-standard cashewnuts.

Both the manufacturers have been fined Rs. 10,000/- each and the seller in South-Goa have been fined collectively Rs. 10,000/-.

Adjudicating case in North Goa was filed by Food Safety Officer, Shri. Atul Dessai had drawn a sample from a shop at Calangute Bardez Goa. The Sample of Cashewnuts was found failing in free fatty acid, Superficial damage, Speckled or spotted black or brown kernels, insects damage, and also presence of off flavor and taste.

The second sample of Cashewnuts was drawn by Food Safety Officer, Zenia Rosario, from a super market of Margao; of a manufacturer situated at Sattari-Goa. The said sample was declared as sub-standard as the damaged/discoloured units were more than the maximum permissible limit as provided in the Regulations.

The above samples of Cashewnuts were drawn as a part of regular surveillance procedure; and also based on the complaint received, regarding quality of cashewnuts.

The drive against the sub-standard cashewnuts will continue, as informed by the Department of Information and Publicity.

13th Governing Council Meeting & 4th AGM of AIFORERA Held

The All India Forum of Real Estate Regulatory Authorities (AIFORERA) held its Thirteenth Governing Council Meeting and Fourth Annual General Body Meeting in the city today.
AIFORERA was registered as a society in 2019 for the various Real Estate Regulatory Authorities (RERAs) to come together, share their experience, and learn from each other. The conference was hosted by the Goa RERA and attended by 14 RERA Chairpersons of various States and Union Territories.

STATE WINNING SCHOOL TEAM TO REPRESENT STATE

The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs is deputing the State winning school team to participate in the “61st Edition of National Subroto Mukharjee Cup U/14 Sub-Junior Boys Football Tournament” in New Delhi from 6th to 15th September 2022.

The team is seen with Smt. Jennifer Ferrao e Gonsalves, Dy. Director of Sports and Youth Affairs along with Headmistress and Physical Education Teachers from Perpetual Succour Convent H/S, Navelim, and officials of the Department.

ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES & VOTERS SHARE CORDIAL RELATIONSHIP: PILLAI

Governor, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai asserting that elected representatives and voters share cordial relations in the State said elected representatives always listen to the grievances of the people patiently and are always accessible to the people for which I am impressed.

The Governor, Shri. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai visited Shree Vithal Mandir, Karapur, Sankhali in Bicholim Taluka and Valpoi and Honda in Sattari taluka today as part of “Sampurna Goa Yatra”.

Shri Pillai on his arrival at Shree Vithal Mandir, Karapur, Sankhali was received by Former Chief Minister and President of Shree Vithal Devasthan Shri Pratapsingh Rane, Dr. Deviya Rane, MLA, Poriem and others. Shri Rane briefed him about the functioning and history of the oldest temple in Karapur, Sankhali.  The Governor offered Darshan and prayers at the Temple.

At Valpoi, the Governor was received by Dr. Deviya Rane, MLA, Poriem and Chairman, Forest Corporation. Present on the occasion were Smt. Shaijjin Shaikh, Chairperson Valpoi Municipal Council, Shri Anil Katkar, Vice Chairperson, Shri Sanjiv Gauns Desai, Addl. Collector, North Goa, Shri Pravin Parab, Dy. Collector, Suryajirao Rane, Block Development Officer, Shri Mihir Vardhan, IAS(Retd), Secretary to the Governor and  Shri Vinod Shinde.

Later, the Governor interacted with newly elected Sarpanchas and Members of Village Panchayats of Honda, Poriem, Morlem, Kerim, Bhirondem, Pissurlem, Mauxi, Dongurli, Thane Nagargao, Sanvordem, Cotodem and Guleli at MLA Office Hall, Valpoi.

Shri Amit Shirodkar, Sarpanch Morlem, Shri Udaysingh Rane, Sarpanch, Bhironda presented a brief report of their concerned villages.

Highlighting the remarkable progress made by the State Government, Shri Pillai said, if you consider the per capita income index, Goa is at the top position while for the happiness index it is Mizoram State which is in the first position.

The Governor informed that Rajbhavan will look into their representations from various Panahayats in the State. The demands made by Sarpanchas will be handed over to the concerned departments and will also personally pursue the matter till it is solved, he pointed.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Deviya Rane, MLA, Poriem complimented the initiatives taken by the Governor for the betterment of the public and informed that the Governor office till now have helped 71 NGO’s and have provided financial assistance for more than 420 dialysis patients.

Through the on-going Sampurna Goa Yatra, the Governor is witnessing the social fabric and the problems faced by the people from across the State. We Goans are living a modern life, but at the same time no one has forgotten the cultural traditions and the historic culture of our State, she said.

Putting across her vision to develop Sattari taluka Dr. Rane underscored the idea of improving the economic activities in Sattari taluka and also showed keen interest to boost eco-tourism activities in Sattari taluka in years to come.

The Governor disbursed financial assistance for Dialysis patients in Sattari taluka.

Earlier, Shri Suryajirao Rane, Block Development Officer welcomed the guest. Shri Pravin Parab proposed a vote of thanks.

Later, Governor, Shri. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai visited the ACGL plant at Bhuimpal Sattari.

TEACHERS STATE AWARDS DECLARED

The State Government has declared the State Awards to Teachers 2021-22 to six meritorious teachers for their exemplary work done in the field of education. Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant will felicitate these teachers on the occasion of 61st Teacher’s Day to be held on September 13, 2022 in the main hall of Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji, at 11 am.

 In the Primary Teacher category, Ms Sarojini Narayan Gawas, Government Primary Teacher, Government Primary School, Thane, Sattari (North Goa District) has been awarded for her dedicated service. In the Secondary Teacher Category, Shri Ganpatrao Kustobarao Rane ,Assistant Teacher, Government High School, Ambedem, Nagargao, Sattari and Shri Diogo S. Pinto, Assistant Teacher, St Francis Xavier’s High School, Siolim, Bardez (both North Goa District) have been declared recipients of the State Teachers award.

In the High School Headmaster Category, Shri Devidas Vithoba Kotkar, Headmaster, Government High School, Ambedem, Nagargao, Sattari (North Goa District) has bagged the award. In the Higher Secondary Teacher Category, Shri Subhash Balkrishna Jan, Teacher Grade-I, Shree Ameya Higher Secondary School, Curti, Ponda, has been declared the recipient of the State Teachers Award.

Shri Mario Christopher Reuben Costa, Principal, VRDA’s Gauncar Higher Secondary School of Arts, Commerce and Vocational, Raia, Salcete, has won in the Higher Secondary Principal Category.

GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES FINANCIAL AID TO CANCER PATIENTS

Governor, Shri P. S. Sreedharan Pillai on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations commemorating India’s 75th year of Independence has extended financial aid to cancer patients for treatment under Raj Bhavan Financial Aid Scheme

Raj Bhavan has invited applications from persons suffering from cancer ailments and undergoing treatment. Applications should be supported by the medical certificates from the hospital where the patient is undergoing treatment and a copy of the Aadhar card.

Applications should be addressed to the Secretary to the Governor, Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula and submitted by post only on or before September 30, 2022, as informed by the Department of Information and Publicity.

CM INAUGURATES CENTRE CLOSING SEGMENT

The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurated the Centre Closure Segment of the ongoing Zuari bridge at Agassaim today. The Dilip Buildcon Limited which has undertaken the construction of the bridge organized the event. The center closure span was lifted at the hands of the Chief Minister after the performance of pooja.

The Chief Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to improving infrastructural development and at the same time assured to extend benefits of schemes to the people. Government has disbursed an amount of Rs 132 crores out of Rs. 144 crores under various schemes and the rest of the amount will be disbursed in the days to come, he said. The Government is serious about the welfare of people and cited the example of handing over appointment letters under harness scheme to 12 beneficiaries whose family members were lost due to accidents, he added.

The Chief Minister further said the Government is concerned about the safety/security of people and therefore has taken to develop adequate infrastructure for the transport sector. The Government he said has incurred around Rs. 22 thousand crore rupees on various infrastructural projects. The architect of the ongoing dream bridge project he said is Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari who has stood behind to make the dream of building such a bridge with new advanced technology.

The Chief Minister informed that the Cable Stayed bridge is a 8 lane by taking into consideration the future needs. The stretch of cable-stayed bridge is 640 mts. He appreciated the stakeholders of Dilip Build Con and the staff for taking up the construction with dedication.

Minister for PWD, Shri Nilesh Cabral expressing happiness to witness the event of Centre Closure segment said that the work of construction of the ongoing bridge would be completed soon and would be opened for the public. This cable-stayed bridge is the second longest bridge in the country. The hands working behind this project are doing a marvelous job. This bridge will be an iconic one for Goa and would strengthen the infrastructure of Goa, he added.

SENIOR GUJARAT OFFICERS VISIT GOA TO KNOW SWAYAMPURNA GOA PROGRAM

Chief Minister, the Government of Goa has launched Swyampurna Goa 2.0 Program in a mission mode. The mission is to lay maximum emphasis on ensuring that the benefit of each and every beneficiary-oriented scheme reaches the eligible person at his or her door step.

This program has gained popularity in other States as well.  Senior Officers of Government of Gujarat Shri. D. D. Jadeja, I.A.S, Additional Development Commissioner and Shri. N. R. Patel, Assistant Development Commissioner, Government of Gujarat visited the State to understand the Swayampurna Goa program today.

Director, Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation, Porvorim welcomed the Officers from Government of Gujarat and explained the concept of Swayampunra Goa program, how it was initiated, implemented, executed,  and the overall outcome of the program.

Officers from the Government of Gujarat visited the Office of Secretary, Panchayat.  Shri Menino D’Souza, I.A.S. Swayampurna Mitras, namely, Shri. Subraj Kanekar and Smt. Nancy Fernandes interacted with Officers from Gujarat. These Swayampurna Mitras were briefed about their field experience, issues, and challenges faced at various stages of Swayampurna Goa Program at their Panchayat.

Further, Officers from Gujarat visited Village Panchayat  Salvador do Mundo. Dy. Sarpanch, Shri. Dattaram Redkar welcomed these Officers. Dy. Sarpanch explained to them how Panchayat actively participated in the Swayampurna Goa program and how it has benefited the public of Village Panchayat.

The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant expressed happiness after handing over job appointment letters to beneficiaries of the compassionate scheme, whereby the dependents of government officials who lost their lives while performing their duty, are given jobs in Government service on compassionate grounds.

Dr Sawant said that it was his Government’s resolve to clear hurdles and give these appointments before Ganesh Chaturthi. He asked the beneficiaries to work to the best of their abilities.

Dr Sawant spoke of how the Government has disbursed pending amounts to beneficiaries under various welfare schemes ahead of the festive season.

Earlier, Joint Secretary, Personnel, Smt. Meghana Shetgaonkar informed that the Department was processing the other pending applications under compassionate scheme.

Present were Under Secretary, Personnel I, Shri Eshant Sawant and Under Secretary, Personnel II, Smt. Nathine Araujo among others.
