PROJECT POSH FOR WOMEN

V.M. Salgaocar College of Law in association with Goa Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (GIPARD) and the Directorate of Higher Education, Goa Has launched ‘Project POSH’ – a comprehensive training program on the law relating to Prevention of Sexual harassment of women at work place.

Project POSH aims to provide essential training to the stakeholders, especially the employers and Chairperson/members of the Internal Complaints Committee, regarding the law and procedure. This will go a long way towards effectively and meaningfully implementing the POSH Act, 2013, and the larger constitutional base of substantial gender equality. A total of 55 colleges will be covered in the first phase of Project POSH spread over seven workshops to be held in Panaji, Margao, Mapusa, Ponda and Sanquelim.

The project was inaugurated on September 8,2022 by the Principal of V.M.Salgaocar College of Law Dr. Shaber Ali and the first workshop was held for the IC members of 7 institutions Dr. M.R.K. Prasad is the Project Coordinator and Dr. Sandhya Ram the Co-coordinator for this project who were also the resource persons for the workshop along with Adv.Emidio Pinho.

HAR GHAR TIRANGA COMPETITION RESULT DECLARED

The Department of Information and Publicity, Government of Goa has declared the results of Har Ghar Tiranga Competition.

        The competition was organized as a part of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign  initiated by Government of India from 13th to 15th August 2022 to encourage   every household in the State  to hoist the National Flag on their homes to mark 75th year of India’s  independence as an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building.

        The Department received overwhelming response on its various social Media handles.

      The Har Ghar Tiranga Competition results are as follows: 1st prize of Rs. 7,500/- Shri.Akshay Amrut Volvaikar, 2nd prize of Rs. 5,000/- Shri .Sharad Patil, 3rd prize of Rs. 3000/- – Miss Sneha Pai Lotlikar .

     The winners of five consolation prizes of Rs. 2,000/- each are: Shri Kundan Kashyap , Miss. Ranjana Malik  , Shri.Chetan Madkaikar , Miss.Kalpita Yogesh Potdar and Miss.Sanvi Gawas.

     The winners of the Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign will be awarded certificates and prizes on the occasion of the National Press Day function to be held on November 16, 2022 to be organized by the Department of Information and Publicity.

Goa – Karnataka Governors meets to strengthen border relations

In a bid to strengthen the border relations among Goa and Karnataka, Governor of Goa Shri. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai and Governor of Karnataka Shri. Thawar Chand Gehlot today held a joint meeting with District Collectors of bordering districts of both the States at South Goa Collectorate, Margao.
During the meeting Governor of Goa Shri. Pillai stressed on maintaining border relations and strengthening unity among the people of both the States. He said that people are supreme in democratic system and  discussions among the interstate Administrative Officers assumes much significance to adress issues and find out solutions in interest of common people.
Mentioning about Mhadai river issue, Shri. Pillai expressed that legal system is in place which would resolve the issue.
Governor of Karnataka Shri. Thawar Chand Gehlot highlighting the problem of Drugs trafficking in both the State,  advised to hold serious deliberations between the two States  in order to prevent drugs trafficking. Consumption of drugs he said has ruined lives of several people.
He further suggested to strengthen the tie up between the states for enhancing tourism business and economical growth. Shri. Gehlot also expressed the need to have proper infrastructure for solid waste management and recycling mechanism to tackle the problem and called on both the States to resolve issues pertaining to solid waste.
It was informed that  joint meeting of District Collectors was held as advised by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi during the Governor’s Conference held in Delhi in order to resolve the issues between border districts.
Collector, South Goa Smt. Jyoti Kumari, IAS lamented on economic ties  that prevails among Karwar and South Goa. She also informed about social, linguistic and cultural relationship prevailing among two states.
North Goa, Collector Smt. Mamu Hage spoke on ties shared by Goa- Karnataka in tourism, culture, medical facilities, economic, education and human resources.
Deputy Commissioner, Belgavi Shri. Nitesh Patil, IAS, Superintendent of Police Dr. Sanjiv Patil, Deputy Commissioner, Karwar Shri. Mullai Muhilan M. APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR NARI SHAKTI AWARDS

The Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi has been celebrating Women’s Day every year by facilitating eminent women with National award called ‘‘Nari Shakti Puraskar’’. The awards will be awarded on March 8, 2023 on the occasion of International women’s day.

Directorate of Women Child development has invited applications for Nari Shakti Award.

 Nominations for the awards will be received only through designated website i.e. www.awards.gov.in. The link of the website will also be available on the official website of the Ministry of Women and Child Development  www.wcd.nic.in applications received other than online mode will not be entertained. The portal will be opened from July 1 to October,31 of the every calendar year.

 The awards are open to all individuals, the applicant should not be  in receipt of the same award earlier (including Stree Shakti Puruskar as were awarded by the Ministry earlier). The Nari Shakti Puraskar may be awarded for outstanding work, preferably in exceptional circumstances to individuals in the areas of economic and social empowerment of women or pertaining to this theme or incidental thereto. An award may also be given to a State or Union Territory, which is appreciably improved Child Sex Ratio (CSR). Normally the award shall not be presented posthumously; excepting in case where death occurred subsequently to a proposal be having been submitted to the Ministry in the manner as stipulated in these guidelines.

The applicants must be at least 25 years of age on July 1,of the award year (e.g. for the year 2021 awards to be distributed on March 8,2022, the age should be as on July 1,2021 and so on.

Each Award carries a cash prize `2.00 lakh  and a citation. The nomination would be submitted to the Ministry of Women and Child Development with details as per online application form along with supporting documents as mentioned in the application form. Applicants received by the due  date will be sent to the State./UT and District Collector/District Magistrate, other government/appropriate agencies/organizations for verification of the claims and achievements mentioned in the applications.

GOVERNOR CONGRATULATES CARDINAL FILIPE NERI FERRAO

The Governor, Shri P. S. Sreedharan Pillai met Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao at the Archbishop’s House in Altinho, Panaji, today, to congratulate him on his appointment as Cardinal.

Present on the occasion were Secretary to Cardinal, Fr Joaquim Loiola Pereira, Chancellor, Archbishop’s House, Fr Romeo Monteiro and Assistant Procurator, Fr Mario Souza.

His Eminence Filipe Neri Ferrao was inducted into the College of Cardinals in Rome last month at the Consistory ceremony for the creation of Cardinals.

ROAD SHOW @GOA60 AT UDAIPUR EVOKES GOOD RESPONSE

Road Show themed on Goa@60 organized by Goa Tourism Development Corporation on behalf of Department of Information and Publicity was inaugurated by Smt. Shikha Saxena, Dy. Director Tourism, Govt of Rajasthan along with Shri Kamlesh Sharma, Dy. Director, DIPR, Govt of Rajasthan at Celebration Mall, Udaipur, Rajasthan, today.

Shri Rajesh Kale, Dy. Director,  Tourism Dept, Goa; Shri Deepak Narvekar, Dy. General Manager,  GTDC; Shri Allwyn Pereira,  Information Officer,  Dept of Information and Publicity,  Goa; Shri Rodlin Mascarenhas, Asst Director Tourism Dept and Shri Kiran Munankar, AIO, Dept of Information and Publicity, Goa were present on the occasion.

Smt Saxena appreciating Goa Govt for choosing Udaipur to have road show said Udaipur and Goa share similarities, as both are tourist destinations in their own ways. Such platforms are a healthy practice and should be encouraged as it provides an opportunity to exchange and know cultural programmes, bringing the varied rich cultural heritage to cross sections of the society, she observed.

Shri Sharma expressing happiness to be associated with the road show organised by Goa Government said these programmes bring people closer and go a long way to portray and attract tourist.

The Department of Tourism has set a goal of increasing the footfalls to Goa every passing year, Goa is a  tourist destination on World map, Kale said.

Deepak Narvekar, Dy General Manager Mktg and PR Goa Tourism informed that Goa @60 Road Show helps to connect with the people from various cities in a big way and  showcase Goa Govt. Achievements and progress made during post liberation period. Through this Road show, Tourism Department intends to apprise people of the contribution of the freedom fighters in attaining Liberation to the State and also promote Goa Tourism facets and new products to the rest of the country and  invite them to experience the beautiful state of Goa, Shri Deepak Narvekar said.

Goa would like to deepen its connection with Udaipur as it is also a renowned Wedding Destination just like our State. It is important for us to engage and to attract tourist. Happy to get an opportunity to engage with the people of Udaipur, Shri Allwyn said on the purpose of conducting the roadshows.

The Road Show is conceptualized by M/s Sean Advents Goa. The show will be held till September 18, 2022 at the venue and will be open for all general public. Inaugural session was followed by Goan folk dances performed by Goan artists which received overwhelming response from the crowd.

The Goa@60 themed Road Shows are being held across six cities in India. The first show was held in Ahmedabad recently and will be held in the cities of Varanasi, Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram and Mysore shortly as planned.

Government of Goa has decided a take the celebrations across the country to showcase the history and rich heritage, diverse cultures, cuisine, development and achievements attained over the last six decades which has put Goa on the world map after yearlong celebrations of  60th year of its Goa’s Liberation.

The initiative to showcase Goa and more is to attract visitors to Goa, investors and investments that will give further impetus to infrastructure, industries, tourism, agriculture, transport, Information  Technology, safety and security, improving quality of life and to make Goa further shine on the global map

OFFICE OF SURVEY AND LAND RECORDS VASCO SHIFTED

Directorate of Settlement and Land Records has informed that the office of the Inspector of Survey and Land Records, Vasco-da-Gama on the 2nd floor located at Our Lady of Guia Building, Vasco-da-Gama on the 2nd floor is now shifted at 1st floor of Santa Pelegia Building at Vasco.

It is informed to general public that all services provided by the Inspector of Survey and Land Records, Vasco will be henceforth made available at premises, as informed by Department of Information and Publicity.

PANCHAS SHOULD UNDERSTAND RIGHTS AS WELL AS RESPONSIBILITIES : CM

Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant said, Goa will be Swayampurna only when the villages become Swayampurna first. Panchas should understand the rights as well as responsibility to make Goa Swayampurna. Government will provide every required support to the Panchayats.
He was speaking after launching the induction training programme for the newly elected representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions of South Goa at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao organised jointly by Directorate of Panchayats, Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Goa Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development.
Further speaking Shri Sawant said, Panchas can be a big support for the government to reach to the last person of the society to give them every needed support, schemes and facilities. Panchas should work on the aim of Antyoday. Panchas should give every service to their people. Make the people of ward or village to stand on their own by availing benefits of the various employment generating schemes. He said, set target to give benefit of self employment to atleast 5 unemployed voters. Take maximum benefit of Swayampurna Mitras.
 Government can achieve various targets with the initiatives of the panchayat members. Take responsibility of
localization of 17 Sustainable Development Goals through Panchayati Raj Institutions. He said, District Planning Committee will be formed. Plan for innovative model project. Do not oppose any Government project for the sake of opposition he pointed. Think how project will benefit the State overall. Seeking support of every panchayat to make success Sabka Sath, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Prayas the call given by Prime Minister.
Panchayat Minister, Shri Mauvin Godinho said, he is very happy to see that educated and  qualified youth got elected in this panchayat elections. He said, Panchayati Raj is a local self government. Service of the people is important for any elected representative. Government is bringing lot many changes for easy working of Panchayats. To manage garbage, Government is funding the panchayats. Soon Government will make Operation and maintaince contract for 5 years with the suppliers of garbage machinery.
He called upon panchayats to segregate dry and wet waste. Government will always support Panchayats, he said and emphasised that every panchayat make efforts to treat garbage and generate revenue. Do not totally depend on grants. Since mining is closed States economy is fully dependend on tourism. Mopa Airport will be game changer for the State. More number of tourist will come to Goa. We should keep every nook and corner of the State garbage free to welcome the tourists, he remarked.
Underscoring the need for Panchayats to work responsibly he said nothing is bigger then the collective efforts and will in democracy. He felt that  involvement of voters of the local particular panchayat jurisdiction should be considered while opposing any project. Panchayat members responsibility is to promote good public opinion. Many oppose projects and they go abroad to settle in their life. We need to create opportunities for the people who love to live in Goa, he said.
Stressing the need to create healthy atmosphere with discussions, he assured to look at the issue of  increasing salaries of the panchayat members. Panchas are the future of the Goa. Every Goan should derive benefit from the tourism sector. For that we should promote infrastructure for the tourism, he said and added We cannot go back to the cave age so we should change our thinking. Life itself is a balance. Everyone should give contribution to make golden Goa, he added.
Directorate Panchayat officers will visit panchayats. Panchayat Raj Act should be more functional he said. Misuse of allotment of house number will not be tolerated henceforth. More illegal constructions will not be allowed. More powers will be given to panchayat to simplify promotion of legal construction, he added.
Swachhata hi Seva,Swachh Bharat Mission, Gramin 2.0 campaign was launched on the occasion.

Minister for Water  Resources Shri. SubhashShirodkarhas stressed for the imperative need for building excellent thought process among the Engineers fraternity which could result into excellent innovations and creation of infrastructures to serve the people. He was speaking at a programme organized by Department of Water Resources  on the occasion of birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Engineer Sir M.Visvesvaraya which is being celebrated as Engineer`s Day held at SinchaiBhavan, Porvorim, today.

Shri.Shirodkar in his address further emphasized on sheer dedication of engineers towards serving the people by accomplishing various tasks related to their profession. There are lots of role models in the country who can show us the path towards better and peaceful life, only we have to get inspired by them and set our goals for the life, Minister added.

Minister also underlined the importance of perfection in every task that an individual does in his professional life. Urge for the perfection make the people to have great achievement in their career, he further said.

On the occasion a seminar on Challenges before practicing Engineers in Socio-Ecological Biodiversity Aspects was held, wherein key note speaker Dr. Prasad Rangnekarfrom IIT Mumbai spoke on role of Engineers towards generating employment in the State and  technology development. He stressed on frugal innovations wherein people can be benefitted at larger scale against low amount of investment. Speaking on a holistic approach towards Engineering, he mentioned about importance of health, quality education, gender equality, energy conservation.

Secretary, Water Resources Shri.Subhash Chandra, IAS appealed to Engineers fraternity to work on providing sufficient water for irrigation and drinking purpose thereby ensuring food security in the State.

PRADHAN MANTRI TB MUKT BHARAT ABHIYAN

Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Ni-kshay 2.0, is a campaign to mobilize and render community support for persons with TB. The aim of the campaign is to eliminate TB by 2025. Under this campaign, any person, any representative or organization can adopt TB patients and the adopted patients will be taken care of.

The NIKSHA 2.0 portal provides additional patient support to TB patients to take advantage of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) opportunities to improve treatment outcomes, enhance community participation and fulfill India’s commitment to TB eradication by 2025.

The people and institutions who come forward to take care of the patients will be called “Nikshay Mitras”. The period of Nikshay Mitra support can be chosen from one year to three years. They can also choose the state, district, block, health facilities. The digital portal Nikshay will provide a platform for community support to TB patients. Under this initiative, individuals, organisations, corporates, cooperative organisations, elected leaders and NGOs can provide support to persons suffering from TB by adopting them.

Log in to the Nikshay 2.0 portal ( http://nikshay.in ) to register and become a donor to support a person with TB. It is an appeal to join the movement and join our collective hands in the fight against TB.
