The Captain of Ports has notified that the Range Support Vessel (RSV) has been reported sunk on May 13, 2023 at 03.30 pm, at Lat. 15° 29’ 43” N, Long. 73° 48’ 21” E, therefore, all Mariners are advised to take note of the same and navigate with extreme caution and report any eventuality in the area.
All Owners/Masters of the barges, passengers launches, fishing trawlers and operators of the mechanized and non-mechanized crafts, including the tourist boats, cruise boats, etc. plying in the said area are cautioned to keep a sharp lookout, and keep well clear from the sunken Vessel while navigating the area.

Goan Reporter News: Public Works Department urges consumers to remove Booster Pumps.

The Public Works Department has informed that many Water supply Consumers use booster pumps anywhere on their individual water connection service pipeline to draw water by illegal means thus depriving other consumers of equitable water supply in neighbourhoods supplied through the piped distribution network. This act of the consumer is unlawful and amounts to illegal use of piped water and liable for action as per the Goa Provision of Water Supply, Act 2003.

All such consumers who have installed booster pumps for illegal drawal of potable water supplied by the Department are directed to remove and disconnect all such booster pumps immediately, failing which the water connection will be disconnected on the spot without any further notice and further action will be initiated against all such consumers as per the Act, as informed by the Department of Information and Publicity.

Goan Reporter News: National Dengue Day observed.

The State level function of  National Dengue Day was held at the conference hall of Urban Health Centre today, organised by National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Directorate of Health Services. The theme of this year is Harness Partnership to Defeat Dengue.

While speaking at the function State programme officer (NVBDCP) Dr. Kalpana Mahatme said that early symptoms and signs of Dengue can help oneself to recover fast. “It is rightly said that Prevention is better than cure and public awareness can reduce the cases of Dengue in Large numbers. The medical staffs have been working tirelessly by organizing drives, camps and sending out leaflets informing general public on prevention of Dengue disease. Periodic supervision and cleaning of surrounding areas can reduce the mosquito breeding.”She added. Dr. Kalpana further informed that mosquito breeds in stagnant water, near construction areas and therefore mobilizing such areas are necessary to sustain prevention of mosquito breeding.

Chairperson Goa State Commission for Women Smt Ranjita Pai encouraged the medical staff for taking drastic measure and steps to reduce the cases of death due to Dengue disease. She congratulated the enthusiastic medical staff and officers who work tirelessly day and night for the betterment of the society.

The Chairperson of Margao Municipality Council Shri Damodar Shirodkar congratulated the medical staffs and doctors for working towards reducing the dengue cases in Goa. He informed that he along with his councilors are available whenever the medical staff needs help in oragnising drives and cleaning areas where chances of mosquito breeding can take place.

 The Asst. Director of Education Shri Melvin Dcosta along with other medical superintendent and nodal officers were present on the occasion.

The “National Disaster Alert Portal” (sachet.ndma.gov.in) and Mobile App (Sachet App) of “CAP based Integrated Alert System” have been launched during 3rd Session of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR) on March 11, 2023. The National Disaster Alert Portal and Sachet Mobile App is meant for receiving early warning/alerts related to disasters being disseminated by Alert Generating agencies/SDMAs over CAP Platform. The android and iOS version of Mobile App (Sachet) is available on Google Play and Apple App Store respectively.
