Goan Reporter News: Minister for Water Resources Shri Subhash Shirodkar visits various water bodies in South Goa

Minister for Water Resources Shri Subhash Shirodkar, today visited various water bodies in South Goa. These includes Davorlim raw water pumping station, Salzora Lake, Quepem Dam, Kushawati River, Mirabhag, Soliem and Salaulim Dam.

During his visit, he said April and May are the ideal months to inspect the water bodies as the demand for water supply is high and there is a scarcity of water in the state. This is the right season wherein we can plan the strategies for the next upcoming 25 years. “My purpose behind this inspection is to provide sufficient water supply to Salcete and Mormugao Taluka as there is a huge demand for water supply as both these talukas are densely populated and also has Industrial Estate”.

Shri Shirodkar further said that the upcoming 250 MLD project will solve the problems of water scarcity in North Goa. Similarly, WRD will take up a 150-200 MLD water project in South Goa which will definitely address the problem of water scarcity in the state. The other dignitaries who accompanied the Minister during his visit were Chief Engineer Shri Pramod Badami, additional Chief Engineer Shri Santosh Gaonkar, Superintendent Engineer Shri Krishnakanth Patil along with other WRD technical staff and engineers.

Goan Reporter News: CM Dr Pramod Sawant accords farewell to Special Athletics Team to Berlin

Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant  accorded a warm farewell  to the squad of  22  local  special athletics along with 7 coaches  and one staff  member who  will be proceeding  to Berlin, Germany to participate in  Special Olympic World Summer Games on May 11, 2023.  The function was organized by Special Olympic Bharat Goa, in collaboration with the Office of the State Commission for Persons with Disabilities and Sanjay Centre for Special Education Goa at Porvorim today.

The Special Olympic World Summer Games will commence from 17 to 25, 2023 onwards at Berlin Germany. The Indian team will participate in various sports disciplines like cycling, floorball, volleyball, floor hockey, badminton, running etc.

Chief Minister asserting that the Government believes in inclusive development including equal importance to all said special people are part of society and their interest cannot be ignored thereby providing necessary amenities for their betterment and welfare.

Congratulating the members of the team of Special Athletes who are going Germany to participate at the Special World Olympic Summer Games at Berlin extended his best wishes to the team.

CM along with other dignitaries released T- Shirts and presented the same to the athletes. Minister for Social Welfare, Shri Subhash Faldesai while congratulating the squad of athletes who are going to Berlin Germany said it is a proud moment for all of us and praised the efforts of all concerned officials behind the athletes. The Government considers special people as an important segment of society and therefore undertakes everything for their welfare and empowerment, he added.

The Minister appealed to participants to work hard to achieve success and hoped that the athletes in their respective sport disciplines will put every effort to bring glory and name to our country.

Member, Special Olympic Bharat Goa Mr. Victor Vaz also spoke about the summary of the tournament on the occasion.
