Goa, June 30, 2023 – Kalji, a prominent organization dedicated to promoting social welfare and community engagement, joined hands with Don Bosco College, Panjim to organize an insightful Talk on Drug Abuse Awareness. The event was held today, June 30, 2023, to coincide with the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The talk was delivered by Dr. Shankar Komarpant, a retired Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) from the Goa Police Force.
To raise awareness and educate the youth about the dangers of drug abuse, the collaborative effort between Kalji and Don Bosco College proved to be a significant step forward in combating this pressing issue. The event attracted a large audience of students, who actively participated in the interactive session.
Dr. Shankar Komarpant, renowned for his expertise in tackling drug-related crimes during his tenure with the Goa Police, shared his insights and experiences with the attendees. He shed light on the various forms of drug abuse, their adverse effects on individuals and society, and the legal repercussions associated with illicit drug trafficking.
The engaging talk encouraged students to recognize the warning signs of drug abuse and understand the impact it can have on their physical and mental health, as well as the negative consequences it can bring to their personal and professional lives. Dr. Komarpant emphasized the importance of early intervention, rehabilitation, and community support in addressing drug addiction.
Kalji, known for its commitment to promoting social awareness programs, expressed its gratitude to Don Bosco College for its collaboration in organizing this educational event. The organization reaffirmed its dedication to creating a drug-free society and fostering a culture of well-being among the youth.

District Magistrate North Goa has imposed Section 144 in the view of Bye-Election to the Ward No. VII of Parcem and Ward No. V of St. Estavam Village Panchayat in North Goa District which is scheduled to be held on July 02, 2023 and counting of polled votes is fixed on July 03, 2023.

DM has ordered that all Restaurants, Bars, Tea shops, Pan shops, Eateries and other food shops/joints (Dhabas, Gaddas) etc., situated within 200 meters of the polling station on day of poll i.e. on July 02, 2023 from 06.00 am to 06.00 pm and Counting centre on day of counting i.e. on July 03, 2023 from 06.00 am till end of counting of votes to the Ward No. VII of Parcem and Ward No. V of St. Estavam village Panchayat in North Goa District will remain closed.

DM has further banned any gathering or crowd comprising of more than 5 persons within 200 meters of any polling stations and counting hall.

The restrictions shall not apply to public servants on duty and to bonafide marriage or funeral processions or religious processions/functions. The above order shall not apply to the authorised officers on Election Duty by the State Government, including the polling officials, Magistrates, Police officials and Government staff.
