13/06/2014 …. Not even a single pie would be paid to arihant contractors until and unless the officials of the national institute of oceanography states that the candolim beach was cleared from the debris of river princess said tourism director Nikhil dessai
It may be noted that earlier in May 2012, Arihant had submitted a report to the tourism department claiming that they had removed the ship in its entirety but later a subsequent survey done by NIO had established that substantial portions of the ship still remained under the sand.
Speaking to goanreporter director of tourism nikhil dessai said as work was still going on of removing the remaining debris of river princess and till date over 4000 tonnes of metal scrap was removed from the sea lying below the sea and goa shipyard limited was monitoring the whole process
Dessai said once goa shipyard had informed that the process was completed the department would ask the services of nio to conduct an underwater survey and then only could take a final decision of making a payment to the arihant contractors
