01/07/2014 ….Dy. Chief Minister Shri Francis D’ Souza laid the foundation stone for the construction work of the proposed Rs. 6.15 crores Administrative Office building for Sanguem Municipal Council at a function held at Sanguem yesterday.
Shri Subhash Phaldesai, MLA graced the occasion.
The project involves demolition of the existing Sanguem Municipal Council and the reconstruction. It will be completed in 18 months and will have provision of new Balwadi, bank and to accommodate approximately 23 shops on the ground floor, besides Offices and Council and Administrative hall with a capacity of 800 persons on the first floor and Conference hall with a capacity of 600 persons on the second floor. It has a provision of parking for 50 four wheelers and 20 two wheelers.
Speaking on the occasion the Dy. Chief Minister appealed to the people not to oppose developmental projects which are in the interest of the State and its people. He further told the people to participate in the process of development. In a democracy we have to respect the sentiments of the people he said adding that the Government is endeavoring to provide basic amenities to all the people.
Shri D’ Souza who also holds the Urban Development Portfolio further informed that under GSUDA works to the tune of Rs. 50 to 60 crores are underway in the State during the current year. He assured to take up the construction work of second phase of market complex at Sanguem.
Shri Subhash Phaldesai, MLA in his address listed the works which he has taken up in Sanguem and its surrounding areas during last two years. These includes construction of roads incurring expenditure of Rs. 60 crores, works under Water Resources Department of Rs. 3 crores, besides subsides to the tune of Rs. 20 crores were extended to the farmers . In addition to this, construction work of Kabrastan and Cemetery have already been started at Sanguem he said and informed that a Guest house costing Rs. 1.25 crores will be constructed at Sanguem.
