Panaji: December 8, 2015 … Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar called upon the farmers to take up farming on large scale and impressed upon them to utilize scientific methods for better yield.
Shri Parsekar was speaking as Chief Guest at the celebration of World Soil Health Day recently organized at Agriculture Office at Tonca Caranzalem.
The function was organized by the Directorate of Agriculture in association of RCPR College of Agriculture.
Shri Parsekar further speaking said that it was necessary that periodical testing of the soil is taken up and also review of nutrients and micro nutrients and its ability for cultivation. He therefore felt that the farmers should keep their farm lands under continues process of cultivation.
Shri Parsekar further also complimented Reliance Foundation for helping the farmers by providing soil health cards under Corporate Social Responsibility and handover soil health cards to farmers.
Shri Manguirish Pai Raikar, Chairman of RCPR College of Agriculture appreciated the farmers for showing their enthusiastic participation in the programme.
Shri Ulhas Kakode, Director of Agriculture in his welcome address urged the farmers to take up organic farming to protect the fertility of soil that washed out due to heavy use of chemical fertilizers for many years.
Shri Satyajit Bhosle, of Reliance Foundation, Professors and students of RCPR College, progressive farmers from all over Goa, Staff of the Agriculture Department and others attended the function.
Shri Shrirang Jambhale, Principal RCPR College of Agriculture compered the function while Shri Satyawan Desai, Agriculture Officer proposed the vote thanks.
