Addressing people after inaugurating the Clean Margao Mission under Swacch Bharat Abhiyan organized by Margao Municipal Council at Margao, recently, the Governor pointed that Swacch Bharat Abhiyan should go hand-in-hand alongside with developmental issues and should not be treated merely as a cleanliness matter.
Dr. (Smt) Sinha also appealed to the teachers to imbibe in the children right from their tender age the significance of cleanliness of one’s own house and surrounding areas. Every individual student could be urged to shoulder the responsibility of 2-3 households in his neighborhood, she remarked.
Shri Digamber Kamat, MLA said that Margao being the commercial capital of Goa and having being blessed with a number of first’s to its credit has to be to number one even in the mission of Swacch Abhiyan.
Seeking the co-operation and support of every stakeholder to make the mission successful, Shri Kamat stated that every individual, village and town will have to move in the direction of maintaining cleanliness in their own areas in order to make Goa, a clean state.
Smt. Babita Prabhudessai, Chairperson, Margao Municipal Council in her welcome address urged the students to spread the importance of segregation of waste, which will help to make this Abhiyan a grand success.
Later the Governor along with Shri Kamat and Smt. Prabhudessai swept a road as part of the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan and Clean Margao Mission.
The Governor also released a pamphlet on the do and don’t of little and big things to make the cleanliness campaign successful with small habits on the occasion.
