INDUSTRIES MINISTER LAUNCHES HANDICRAFTS ON WHEELS

Panaji:  May 23, 2016 … Minister for Industries, Shri Mahadev Naik inaugurated ‘Handicrafts on Wheels’ at a function held at Neuginagar, Crafts Complex, Panaji recently.

The function was organized by Goa Handicrafts Rural and Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Ltd. The Goan handicrafts items made by local Artisans will be made available on handicrafts on Wheel.

 Speaking on the occasion Shri Naik said that the concept of Handicrafts on Wheel is to give exposure to the Goan rural artist and to provide a platform to market the product of the artisans. As many as 50 lakhs tourist visit the State every year and most of them get attracted to the handicrafts items. The concept Handicrafts on Wheel will go a long way to exhibit the rural talent of artist at national and international level, he remarked.

 Shri Naik said Government is working towards the welfare of the people and have rightly launched various schemes for the progress of its citizen. The government has been providing a helping hand to manage the affairs of one’s household especially of the weaker section of the society by way of various schemes, he pointed.

 Shri Naik complimented the Managing Director GHRSSIDC, Shri Navin S.L. (IAS) for his dedicated efforts and ideas towards introducing and implementing various initiatives in Goa Handicrafts Corporation which he said will go a long way in exposing Goan artist and generate revenue.

 Speaking on the occasion MLA and Chairman GHRSSIDC, Shri Lavoo Mamledar said that the concept of Handicrafts on Wheel is to provide a market for Goan Handicrafts item made by local artisans.  He informed that the vehicle will be kept at prominent locations at various market places, beaches, Jatra festivals etc.

 Shri Mamlekar appealed to the workers to work dedicatedly to bring laurels to their institution.

 Smt Radha Naik General Manager, GHRSSIDC, read out the report of GHRSSIDC.

 Shri Irwin Soares, Board Director, GHRSSIDC, and Shri Ashok Naik, Director Industries, Trade and Commerce were present on the occasion.

Industry Minister also distributed certificates to the Artists who were trained in Handicrafts items conducted by GHRSSIDC.

 Shri Naveen S.L. (IAS) welcomed the guests while Shri Santosh Salkar proposed vote of thanks.
