16-01-2014 … health minister laxmikant Parsekar on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed athletic stadium at the goa medical college and hospital in Bambolim. The stadium is especially constructed for lusofonia games 2014 that starts on the 18th of this month.
Others present on the occasion were sports minister Ramesh Tawadkar, north goa MP Shripad nail, CEO of lusofonia games Keshav Chandra and director of sports authority of goa sandeep Jacques .
All athletic events of Lusofonia Games 2014 will be conducted at the Athletics Stadium in Bambolim which is the first integrated athletic complex in Goa constructed according to the IAAF specifications and norms. The facility has a permanent seating capacity for 3,500 persons and a temporary seating capacity for 6,500.
Addressing media persons after the inauguration, the health minister praised the efforts of his BJP-led government for having carried out the sports projects in a record time.
mr Parsekar said that whatever sports infrastructure that was created for the present lusofonia games could also be used for future sporting activities.
