Governor visits Pernem Taluka as part of Sampurna Goa Yatra

The Governor P.S.Sreedharan Pillai along with the First Lady, Adv. Reetha Sreedharan today visited Pernem taluka as a part of his “Sampurna Goa Yatra, today. He offered prayers and took the blessings of Shree Shanta Durga Deity at Shree Shanta Durga temple Dhargal and later visited the Patradevi memorial and paid homage to the Martyrs.
The Governor visited Village Panchayat Dhargal and interacted with Sarpanchas, Deputy Sarpanchas and Members of Village Panchayats of Dhargal, Alorna, Cansarvornem, Chandel, Korgaon, Ibrahampur, Khajne, Ozorim, Mopa, Torxem, Varkhand and Virnoda Panchayats.
Speaking on the occasion Governor informed that to mark the celebration of 72nd birthday of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Raj Bhavan has undertaken various initiatives to serve the needy people. Raj Bhavan will disburse the financial aid to 72 TB Patients, 72 Cancer patients and 72 Dialysis Patients, he added.
Highlighting the various initiatives taken by Government of India to boost the agricultural sector, he said Goa was very famous for production of paddy and Coconut and appealed to the people to venture into agricultural activities in large number. It will be a proud moment to see that Goa is marching towards in becoming self reliant State in every sector, he remarked.
Citing the motto of initiating the Sampurna Yatra Governor said that the real life of people is seen in village. One can see hard work, commitment to the Society and enthusiasm and reminded people of Mahatma Gandhiji saying self reliant villages will make India fully developmental country.
Sarpanch of Dhargal Panchayat Shri. Aniket Salgaokar, Sarpanch of Alorna Shri. Narayan Rao, Sarpanch of Cansarvornem Smt Suvarna Keni, Sarpanch of Chandel Shri. Tulsidas Gawas, Sarpanch of Korgaon Shri. Samil Bhatlekar, Sarpanch of Ibrahampur Shri. Ashok Dhauskar , Sarpanch of Khajne Smt Nisha Haldankar, Sarpanch of Ozorim Smt Anil Shetty, Sarpanch of Mopa Subodh Mahale, Sarpanch of Torxem Smt Prathana Mote, Sarpanch of Varkhand Smt Gauri Josalkar and Sarpanch of Virnoda Smt Sujata Thakur presented brief report of their respective villages and pointed the various major issues like shortage of drinking water, requirement of New Ravindra Bhavan, etc.
Interacting with the Sarpanch and Panch members, Governor, Shri Pillai assuring the Villagers to take up their issues with the Government said we will work together to address the problems.
Governor Shri P.S Sreedharan Pillai disbursed financial assistance to 14 dialysis patients from Pernem constituency on the occasion.
Earlier,Governor visited the Greenfield International Airport, Mopa.
Secretary to Governor, Shri Mihir Vardhan, IAS (Retd); Addl Collector North Goa Shri. Sanjiv Gawas and Deputy Collector, Pernem, Shri. Deepak Vaingankar accompanied the Governor during the day long visit.
