Panaji, September 28, 2018 … As a part of ‘Swatcha hi Seva’ movement Governor of Goa Dr. Smt. Mridula Sinha today visited the Biomedical Waste Management (BMW) and Sewage Treatment Plant at Goa Medical College, Bambolim.
Minister for Health Shri. Vishwajit Rane, Secretary (Health) Shri. J. Ashok Kumar, IAS, Dean of GMC Dr. Pradip Naik, Medical Superintendent Dr. Shivanand Bandekar, Add. Secretary Health Shri. Sunil Masurkar, Under Secretary Smt. Trupti Manerkar, GMC’s Director (Administration) Shri. Dattaram Sardessai and others were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion the Governor said that patient considers a hospital as a temple and treats a doctor as God. “The GMC administration has always been at the forefront when it comes to health services and hope that the legacy shall continue in years to come,” the Governor said.
Earlier, Dr. Bandekar welcomed the gathering and briefed about the upcoming Biomedical Waste Management and Sewage Treatment plant. He informed about various legal aspects and segregation management system followed at the plant. “The plant receives a total 909 kgs of BMW per day from GMC and other Govt. Hospitals. There are dustbins identified by different colours to segregate different type of waste. Systematic training is provided to nurses and other staff on time to time basis.”
The Governor thereafter visited the upcoming Super-Speciality Block’s construction site and took an overview of the project. She also planted a sapling and advised the officials to keep the surrounding clean and green.
