GOVERNOR PRESNTS EX-NCC AWARDS

november 2015 … Governor of Goa , Dr. Mridula Sinha has  said that the training imparted by the NCC instills character and virtues of dedication, discipline, commitment and team work. The NCC she said is going strong in the country. However, there is a need to broad-base it even further and more school and college students must be encouraged and motivated to join NCC.

Governor  was  speaking recently as the Chief Guest at the Navhind Times Ex-NCC Achievers function organized by the State Ex-Cadets NCC Association at Kala Academy

The Governor said that it was a moment of great joy and a privilege for her to be particularly amongst the erstwhile members of National Cadet Corps. Dr Sinha said that she felt nostalgic and reminded of her of her days with NCC while she was young student. She said her husband too was a NCC cadet.

Executive Director of The Navhind Times Smt. Pallavi Dempo congratulated the awardees and said that it was a proud moment to associate with the programme. She said that her organization strives towards addressing social causes.

Those presented  the achievers awards at the hands of the Governor were Dr. Kiran Budkuley (Teaching), Shri Pandurang Hegde (Business), Adv. Hemkant Bhangui (Legal profession), Smt. Sucheta Dessai (DY.SP-Police Services), Shri Mahesh Naik (Sports), Shri Siolvano Fernandes (Hotel Industry), Dr. Sanjay P. Sawant Dessai (ANO), Adv. Avinash Bhosle (Politics) and Shri Ibrahim Afgan (Literature).

 Prizes for winners of Essay competition held  by the association will be presented at the function. Also best NCC cadet awards will be presented on the occasion.

 The Governor  Dr.Sinha  being herself an EX-NCC cadet was also  honoured on the occasion with the Ex-NCC achievers award at the hands of Smt. Pallavi Dhempo.

Earlier the new committee was also installed on the occasion.Maj. Venugopal Nair administered the oath of office.

 The Ex-NCC achievers awards have been instituted by The Navhind Times publication together with the ex-NCC association for Ex-NCC achievers so that  the NCC cadets are instill in them a sense of discipline, responsibility and positiveness in life.

 The selection was made by a committee headed by Dr. Shubir Sansguiri and comprising of Maj. Venugopal  Nair and Shri John Aguiar.

Secretary Shri John Aguiar  in his speech gave a brief idea about the project  and said that the awards had been instituted since  2007.

President of the State Ex-Cadets NCC Association, Shri Pradip Sawant  in his welcome address highlighted the activities and aim behind the association.

Project Manager  Shri Pramod Naik proposed a vote of thanks.  Smt. Natasha Alvares Fereira comared  the function.

Commanding Officer of 1 Goa Battalion NCC Col. Nand Kishor , Secretary, Department of Sainik Welfare, Maj. Venugopal Nair, oint Director Plannining Shri Vijay  Saxena, Lt. Col. Austim Collaco, Dr. Jayant Budkuley and prominent citizens were present.
