Panaji, August 19, 2017 … The transport system using bio gas and ethanol buses would bring comfort to Goa and would help reduce environmental pollution in the state said the Governor, Dr (Smt) Mridula Sinha who flagged off the one bio gas bus and two ethanol buses today at the Old Secretariat in Panaji. Dr (Smt) Mridula Sinha further said that this is a pilot project being undertaken in Goa which can be adopted in the other states in India as well. The bio gas and Ethanol bus service in Goa, which will ply on different routes across Goa, is being introduced by Scania India Pvt. Ltd. in association with the Kadamba Transport Corporation, Goa.
The launch of these services makes Goa the second place in India after Nagpur to introduce Ethanol powered buses on its roads. All three buses launched in Goa run on bio fuels which emit fewer greenhouse gases and cause minimal damage to the environment.
The Managing Director of Kadamba Transport Corporation, Goa, Shri Derick P Neto said that the time has come to preserve the natural beauty that Goa is known for by switching to non-polluting transport solutions.
The Managing Director of Business Unit, Scania Commercial Vehicles India, Shri Mikael Benje said, “India’s commitment to bio fuels is commendable and we are delighted at this opportunity to help Goa make the transition to green fuel.”
