GOVERNOR EXTENDS TEACHER’S DAY GREETINGS

Panaji, September 05, 2019 .. The Governor, Smt. Mridula Sinha has conveyed her best wishes to all the teachers on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. In her message, the Governor said, “In India, Teacher’s day is celebrated every year on 5th September as a mark of accolade to the part played by the teachers in the society. 5th September is also the birth anniversary of India’s first Vice President, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who was a great philosopher, academician, and above all a great teacher, and hence this day is recognized as Teacher’s Day.”

The Governor further said, “Teachers nourish and prepare students for whole life as they are the real icon of knowledge and wisdom. It is our teachers who stand behind our success. They helps us to improve our knowledge, skill level, confidence as well as they shape us to choose the right path in life and to get success.”

Quoting the former President of India, A.P. J. Abdul Kalam, the Governor said, “If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, mother and a teacher.” This was an illustrious saying of India’s missile Man, Late. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The quote epitomizes the influence of teachers on every individual’s mind and the society as a whole. Standing just next to the parents in lead, teachers are truly an indispensable part of everyone’s life. They mold and nourish individuals talent and their capabilities.

Highlighting the role of teachers, the Governor said, “Dr.S. Radhakrishnan in his book, “Political Thinkers of Modern India”, indicates the significance of teachers and education in a democratic country like ours. According to him, teachers play a massive role in building of the nation and for that reason, they deserve more respect. He also wrote a book on Bhagvad Gita in which he characterized teacher as a Guru, “The one who emphasizes on presentation to converge different currents of thoughts to the same end”.

          Appealing to the teaching community, the Governor said, “On this occasion, I appeal to the teaching community of Goa to continue to steadfastly strive to attain higher standards of professional excellence and to continually serve the society with a renewed sense of dedication, devotion and commitment to the progress of the State.”
