Panaji,25 September, 2017 … The Governor of Goa Dr. (Smt.) Mridula Sinha on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja from September 26 to September 30, 2017 extended her warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa.
The Governor in her message says that, Durga Puja is an important festival celebrated in our country with great enthusiasm and amity. This festival is celebrated every year from the sixth day to the tenth day of Navratri. Durga Puja festival signifies that no matter how powerful the evil forces are, the ultimate victory will always be in the hands of the virtuous. This day marks the victory of Goddess Durga (good) over the Demon Mahishasura (evil). She has mentioned a shlok.
The Governor further says, that the Divine Goddess resides in all, in form of universal mother, in form of energy, in form of intelligence, and in form of true wealth and we must bow to her.
The Governor also says, that like many other festivals, this festival also shows the domination of good over bad. There are many evils existing in our lives and society. No society is perfect and there are different sorts of evil that persist in every society. Nevertheless, we must take efforts to fight against the social evils and work towards eradicating them. We must also work towards destroying our inner evils, such as ego, pride, jealousy, discrimination etc and work to make ourselves to humanity. We must actively participate and celebrate such spiritual, cultural and social events and use them as a platform for promoting peace, friendship and harmony.
The Governor further also says, that, may the celebrations of Durga Puja this year bring greater peace and happiness to one and all and strengthen the social and cultural harmony in our State and nation as whole, she prayed for well being of all and invoke Goddess Durga by reciting the Shloka.
