Mr Parrikar was speaking to media reporters after hoisting the Indian national flag near the old secretariat complex in the capital city on the occasion of india’s 68 independence day celebrations
Also present for the function was deputy speaker anant shet, tourism minister dilip parulekar, nri commissioner dr Wilfred mesquita, st andre mla Vishnu surya wagh, porvorim mla rohan khaunte, opposition leader pratapsingh rane, freedom fighters, government officers and students of various schools from tiswaddi area …
addressing the gathering chief minister Manohar Parrikar said that his government was in the process of helping those people who were in distress using the method of support system where in people who were in pain could be helped by the state government through the initiative of ngo’s and other organizations
 
Parrikar said his government was trying to help such people specially isolated cases which were there in the state by forming special cells at district, taluka or village level which could be done in the next three months of time
Parrikar said that the initiative taken by his government of forming a student’s counseling cell had helped more than fifteen thousand students in the state counseling them on suicidal tendency, abuse and other related issues
Later chief minister Parrikar also present president police medal to retired superintendent of goa police tony Fernandes for his meritorious service in the police department along with various other medal to member of fire and emergency services and to self help groups
