Panaji: December 15, 2016 ….. Investment in building infrastructure and providing facilities in the field of education is of utmost importance to build Goa’s future stated Chief Minister Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar. Government is committed for social development and this can be only achieved by according thrust on educational field and providing state of art infrastructure he mentioned.
Chief Minister Shri. Parsekar was speaking after inaugurating the new college building (phase I) of Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem constructed at a cost of Rs. 41 Crores.
Shri. Nilesh Cabral, MLA Curchorem, Shri. Subhash Phaldessai, MLA Sanguem, Shri. Chandrakant (Babu) kavlekar, MLA Quepem, Prof. Varun Sahani, Vice Chancellor of Goa University, Shri. Bhaskar Nayak, Director, Higher Education and Principal of College, Shri. Filu D’costa, Chairperson, Quepem Municipal Council, Shri. Sanjit Rodrigues, Managing Director, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, Shri. Pramod Gauns Dessai, Sarpanch, Village Panchayat, Xeldem, Shri. Harshad Prabhudessai, President, Shree Chandreshwar Bhutnath Devasthan, Dr. Ashok Mangutkar, Vice Principal, Shri. Dilip Pauskar, Executive Member, Parent Teachers Association and others were present on the occasion.
Speaking further Shri. Parsekar informed, that the Government has spent Rs. 100 Crores on buildings for all five Government Colleges in the State. Apart from this 260 Government School buildings have been upgraded and 12 New School buildings have been constructed with state of art infrastructure he added. As a result of this, enrolment of students in Government Institution has been increasing he said. Shri. Parsekar urged teaching community to work with dedication to become ideal teachers and build tomorrows society. It is not the sole responsibility of the Government to work to make Goa as No. 1 State in India in all fields, but needs collective efforts of Students, Teachers and all fellow citizens he remarked. He also urged them to maintain and preserve the infrastructure and facilities provided by taking care of it.
Shri. Nilesh Cabral said, Government is endeavouring to give priority to educational field in the State. He also urged students to put sincere efforts to build their carrier.
Shri. Subhash Phaldesai while wishing for the better future of students said, make good use of the infrastructure and facilities provided to them by Government.
Shri. Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar urged students to aim high and always think positive for the betterment of the society.
Prof. Varun Sahani urged the institution to introduce additional innovative programmes. Shri. Harshad Gauns Dessai also spoke on the occasion. Shri. Bhaskar Nayak welcomed the gathering while Dr. Ashok Mangutkar proposed the vote of thanks.
The new project of Government College, Quepem equipped with Arts, Science and Commerce wings including Administration Section, Multipurpose Hall with seating capacity of 800 people.
