Goan Reporter Newws Live: 200 New Cooperative institutions to come up by december 2023: Shubash Shirodkar

More 200 institutions will come up in the Co-operative sector of the State which will be a part of 3 lakh new institutions in the Country by December 2023 a call given by Union Co-operation Minister Shri Amit Shah announced States Co-operation Minister Shri Subhash Shirodkar. He informed that currently there are 5243 institutions working in the field of Co-operative movement in the State.

He was speaking at 69th National Co-operative Week 2022 organised by Department of Cooperation in collaboration with The Goa State Co-operative Union Ltd. and National Co-operative Union of India, New Delhi in Collaboration with Adarsh V.K.S.S. Society Ltd., Shiroda; Shiroda Urban Cooperative Credit Society Ltd.; Shiroda Dairy Cooperative Society Ltd. & Crompton Greaves Consumers Electricals Ltd., Employees Co-operative Credit Society Ltd., Bethora on the theme- -“Ease of Doing Business for Cooperatives, GeM and Export Promotion ” at Ganeshotsav Mandal Hall, Shiroda. Minister also Launched Shiroda the first Sahakar Gram of Goa during the function. Cooperative week will be celebrated till November 20, 2022.

Further speaking Shri Subhash Shirodkar said, in the country’s expected 5 trillion economy 25% share will be of co-operative movement. Co-operative movement provides employment as well as self-sufficiency. The aim is to reach every family of the State through the co-operative sector. He said, Every Taluka should concentrate on exporting something. He said the target of minimum 50 lakh turnover of export will be achieved by Shiroda constituency till December 2023 and for that he appealed all to work unitedly. Best performing Taluka in the Co-operative sector will be presented with an award.

There are many families in Goa who have never gone away from the agriculture field and need to be appreciated. He said farmers and agriculturists cannot be felicitated by giving shawl or mementos but Government as well as every individual should see that their produce gets good market rate. Cooperative unions should keep in mind that income which is gained should not be misused. Goa can bring all types of idealism if we work unitedly hand in hand. Education, agriculture and the cooperative sector are close to his heart, Shri Shirodkar remarked.

Interest rate for the loans of all the Co-operative banks will come down to 12% after December Shri Shirodkar announced. He said as a WRD Minister he has decided to confirm that 1,00,500 farmers should come back again in the agriculture field. Co-operation, Agriculture and WRD Departments should work together, he added.

NRI Commissioner, Adv Narendra Sawaikar said, cooperative movement will go well when it goes through the villages. India’s culture itself is cooperative and because of this country’s cooperative movement has become strong. Rural economy becomes strong through co-operative movement. Co-operative movement is preserved and nourished by rural people, he said. Government is providing all its support to the co-operative movement. In this competitive and fast changing world we should change our mind set and adjust ourselves. There is no other option for hard work and dedication Adv Sawaikar opined.

Guest speaker Import and Export consultant, Shri Sanjay Kirlpalkar spoke in detail on this year’s co-operative week theme “Ease of Doing Business for cooperatives, Gem and export promotion”.

Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Shri Vishant Gaunekar; Chairman, The Goa State Co-operative Bank, Shri Ulhas Phaldessai and Secretary, Co-operation, Shri M R M Rao. Zilla Panchayat Member, Shiroda, Shri Narayan Kamat; Sarpanch, Shiroda Panchayat, Smt Mugdha Shirodkar and others were present on the occasion.

The School of Symbiosis Shiroda presented a welcome song and dance. President, Goa State Co-operative Union Ltd. Shri Shrikant Naik welcomed while Vice Chairman, The Goa State Co-op. Union Ltd., Shri Balkrishna Prabhudessai proposed vote of thanks. Dr Gauri Shirodkar compered.
