West Bengal Foundation Day was celebrated at old Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula today. Various colourful events marked the occasion. Governor Shri. P. S. Shreedharan Pillai graced the occasion.
Others present were Shri M. R. M. Rao, IAS, Secretary to Governor and Shri Mruntunjay Chakraborty, President of Bengal Cultural Association. The foundation day was celebrated with the concept of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ all over the country.
Smt. Reetha Sreedharan also graced the occasion.
Addressing the launching ceremony the Governor of Goa, Shri P. S. Sreedharan Pillai while extending his best wishes to the people of West Bengal said, that Bengal has immense potential and is loaded with talents.
The Governor further said, Bengal is on top as far as freedom movement and cultural values is concerned. He lauded the work of Swami Vivekananda and Ravindranath Tagore. The Governor highlighted some of the works of these two tall leaders. Highlighting the positive thinkings of Ravindranath Tagore the Governor mentioned about his highly prolific work. He said he was a composer and wrote national anthems for three countries i. e. India, Bangladesh, and Srilanka. He also appreciated the work of other tall leaders in the country.
The Governor also mentioned about the unity of the country which he said is very very important as far as peace is concerned.
