Velsao Sports and Cultural Club overcame hosts Wilred Leisure Sports Club 3-1 to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the 14th Wilred Leisure Soccer Cup 2025 at DSYA Ground, Curtorim, on Friday.
Velsao SCC started aggressively, repeatedly testing the Curtorim defense before breaking the deadlock through Ashwin Fernandes, taking a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Wilred Leisure had several opportunities after the break but failed to capitalize, allowing Velsao to extend their lead through Dexten Fernandes. Wilred Leisure pulled one back through Vicky Cardozo, but as the match progressed, Velsao was awarded a penalty, which Aaron Fernandes converted, sealing the victory.
Domnic Soares of Velsao Sports and Cultural Club was named Man of the Match and received the award from Domnic Paes, a club member.
