Goan Reporter News: Results of Tripurari Pournima state level boat competition declared

Directorate of Art and Culture has declared results of Boat competition  held on the occasion of Tripurari Pournima on November 26, 2023.

First prize won by Tonyeshwar Boys, Bandirwada with rolling trophy, certificates and cash of Rs. 35,000/-, second prize won by Kaliyugi Boys, Vitthalapur – Sankhali with rolling trophy, certificates and cash of Rs. 30,000/-, third prize to Talkameswar Boys, Tamidgiwada-Parye with rolling trophy and certificates and cash of Rs. 25,000/-, fourth prize to Bhumi, Majikwada-Parye with certificate and cash prize of Rs. 20,000/- and Fifth prize to NC Boys, Vittalapur, Zariwada with certificate and cash of Rs. 15,000/- .

Consolation prizes with cash prize of Rs. 8,000/- each won by Shri Kshetrapal Yuvak Mandal, Kudapwada Karapur, Three Kings, Majikwada Parye, Sateri FC Ravan, Pahilawada Ravan, Lalbag Sports Club, Vitthalapur, Sankhali and Unique Boys, Guravwada Parye.

The State level ‘Tripurari Pournima’ festival was celebrated on Sunday, November 26, 2023 on the bank of river Valvonti, premises of Shree Vitthal temple, at Vitthalapur, Sankhali. The festival was organized by the Directorate of Art and Culture in association with Department of Tourism, Goa Tourism Development Corporation and Department of Information & Publicity, Deepawali Utsav Samithi, and Shree Dev Vithal Panchayatan Devasthan, Vithalapur Sankhali Goa.

The main feature of the festival was the spectacular boat sailing competition which was held in the basin of river Valvonti. Total 25 boats designed by the participants hailed from different parts of the state, took part in the boat competition sponsored by the Directorate of Art & Culture.  More than eight thousand spectators witnessed this grand and unique traditional festival. The boats were handcrafted and were meticulously designed which exhibited the creativity and unique talent of young artists from the state.

Besides the boat competition, “Musical concert(Natarang Ubha), Deepdaan in the river, Lord Shree Krishna and Vittal Rakhumai procession,  releasing of traditional “ Saranga” in the sky, burning of the effigy of Tripurasur, presentation of Dashavatari Drama, were the distinct  features of the festival.

The festival was graced by the Chief Minister of Goa Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Minister for Art and Culture Shri. Govind Gaude, Minister for Tourism Shri Rohan Khaunte, Shri. PremendraShet, MLA Mayem, Shri. Sagun R. Velip, Director Art and Culture, Mrs. Rashmi Desai – Chairperson, Sankhali Municipal Council, Sarpanch of Village Panchayat Karapur Sarvan – Shri. Dattaprasad Kharkhande, President of Deepawali Utsav Samiti Mr. Dinesh Usapkar, HOD’s and officials of various Govt. departments were also present for the festival.

The State level Boat competition was judged by the Asst. Professors from Goa College of Fine Art, Panaji – Goa, Shri. Sagar Gaude, Shri. Gopal Kudaskar and Shri. Rajesh Chodankar.

The prizes will be distributed in separate function and the date and venue of the prize distribution ceremony of the competition will be informed later.
