Goan Reporter News: Officers have important task to tackle corruption: Dr. V. Candavelou

Honesty, integrity and transparency is very important in our administrative life. We discharge our duties in the interest  of our society where we have to follow the values of ethics saying no to corruption stated the Principal Secretary Finance Dr. V. Candavelou  IAS, who was speaking at a function organized to celebrate ”Vigilance  Awareness Week  2023 ”.

The function was organized by the Directorate of Vigilance at Seminar hall at Secretariat today. The theme of the celebration was ”Say no to Corruption, Commit to Nation”.

Dr. Candavelou speaking further said that officers have an important task to tackle the issue of corruption. All stakeholders in administration have collective responsibility, accountability and transparency to uproot corruption from our society. Lets adhere to the pledge we take here and work together to overcome all those reasons which lead to corruption and create a corruption free society, he remarked.

Director of Vigilance Department Shri Dipak Bandekar in his welcome address said  that  we are all  aware of the fact that our whole nation is celebrating Vigilance Awareness Week from 30/10/2023 to 05/11/2023 which coincides with the birth anniversary of late Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who was the first Home Minister of India and was known as “Iron Man of India and also a man of high integrity.

Shri Bandekar stressed on the need to strengthen Vigilance Department and to make officers well conversant with the process and procedures of Disciplinary Inquiry, we have decided to have Refresher Training Courses to all the Heads of the Departments/ Corporations/Autonomous Bodies/PSUS, Inquiry Officers, Presenting Officers, Vigilance Officers & Staff of the Directorate of Vigilance in co-ordination with GIPARD for which the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary have officially consented, which will increase the efficiency of officers and strengthen the base for reducing corruption by virtue of which dream of Vision of Corruption Free India will turn into reality.

Dr. Candavelou who earlier administered the Pledge of Integrity, garlanded the portrait of  the first Home Minister  of India Sardar Vallabh  Bhai Patel.

Supdt. Of Police, Shri Nelson Albuquerque and staff of  Directorate of Vigilance and other various Government Departments attended the function.

Dr. S. P. Naik Goltekar conducted a training session on section  17A of prevention on  corruption Act. 1988
