South Goa Member of Parliament Captain Viriato Fernandes addressed the Parliament on the Bill of Lading related to shipping industry.
While taking part in the discussion on this Bill, he emphasized the importance of modernising the Custom department to facilitate import & export of goods and to remove the bottlenecks which hamper trade.
Further he highlighted the various challenges faced at Custom clearances like Complex documentation, inaccurate or incomplete paperwork, goods misclassification, valuation issues, delays due to strict regulations, potential for corruption, lack of transparency in the process, often leading to significant delays in import and export shipments.
