Minister for Sports Shri. Govind Gaude expressed that students community should be motivated more to actively enroll for National Service Scheme (NSS) at Higher Secondary and College level which will attribute to nation building and personality development. He was speaking at a meeting of the NSS State Advisory Committee held at SAG, Bambolim yesterday.
The meeting chaired by the Minister Shri. Gaude discussed various aspects of better implementation of NSS in the Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools.
During the meeting Shri. Gaude also instructed concerned Officers to explore the possibilities of introducing NSS for 8th and 9th Std Students, so that students get expose to interest towards social service, community service which will allow them to develop various skills.
The meeting also deliberating on the issues of strengthening of the NSS in the State decided to initiate various majors to enhance the strength and enrollment of volunteers for NSS.
Director, Sports & Youth Affairs Shri. Arvind Khutkar welcomed all the members of the Committee. He also presented the yearly activities, achievements and plans of NSS in the State.
Minister Shri. Gaude offered various suggestions for effective implementation of NSS and to motivate the volunteers and Programme Officers to work with dedication for promoting NSS.
