Water Resources Minister, Shri Subhash Shirodkar unfurled the national tricolour to celebrate 77th Independence Day at Quepem Sports Complex today.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Shirodkar emphasised the need for politicians and social activists to work for the progress of the country with foresight and this kind of strength should be developed in the child as well. Extending his wishes on the occasion of Republic Day he said, we are citizens of a great country. Pride and self-respect are awakened by the call given by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on Har Ghar Triranga.
He called upon everyone to work together for nation building and innovation of Goa. After completing 75 years of independence of the country, it is the responsibility of every citizen to take a divine step keeping in mind that now the movement is towards the completion of the century. India is the oldest country with the longest history and great tradition.
On his arrival, the Minister was received by Deputy Collector, Quepem, Smt Egna Cleetus, IAS and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Quepem, Shri Nilesh Rane.
Minister took the guard of honour given by Police contingent lead by Police Sub Inspector, Shri Gautam Shirodkar and Smt Archana Gaonkar. Shri Shirodkar inspected Police Parade. Students contingents were also present. Students of all high schools from Quepem Taluka presented the National Integration songs.
Prominent persons present at the occasion were Mamlatdar Quepem, Shri Prataprao Gaonkar; Police Inspector, Curchorem, Shri Vaibhav Naik Students of Sarvodaya Educational Institute presented National anthem.
