Goan Reporter News: Goa Liberation day celebrated at Margao

PWD Minister, Shri Nilesh Cabral hoisted the National Tricolour to mark the 62nd Goa Liberation Day celebrations at Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao today.
Addressing the occasion, Shri Cabral  recalling the supreme  sacrifices of Freedom fighters said we should cherish the freedom we got from the colonial rule. Under the leadership of Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant the State is seeing days of progress but it doesn’t mean that after 1961 there were no days of progress. Every Government from the time of Goa attaining freedom, have contributed towards the growth and progress of the State in every sector. Under the able leadership of Dr Sawant,  this Government is taking the development of the State in different directions, he said and added that Government alone can’t do everything. We all, as  a team  should work for the success of the State.
India is hosting  G20 summit this time and it is  a great honour for every citizen of the country. As a citizen of the country every individual have a role to play towards the progress  of the country. We should perform the role which we feel good. It is very easy to blame others then ourselves. If we individually decide we can easily tackle the issue of the garbage menance Shri Cabral said.
India is a great nation to live happily and urged every individual to ensure that each and every community irrespective of caste, creed and religion to work together to take the State and nation to greater heights, making it the greatest nation in the world. If we all work together by finding the immediate solution for every problem no one can stop this country to become No.1 Nation, he remarked.
Minister Shri Cabral on his arrival was received by the District Magistrate and Collector, Smt Jyoti Kumari, IAS and Shri Gurudas Gawde holding the charge of Superintendent of Police and took the Guard of Honour from the Police contingent.
Later Shri Cabral took salute from the march past of contingents of Goa Police, Home Guards, Goa Human Resource Development Corporation and students of Damodar College, Comba, Margao (NCC Naval Cadets); Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Cancona; Union High School, Sanguem; St Tereza High School, Raia; Municipal High School, Vasco da Gama; Guardian Angel High school, Curchorem; MIBK High School, Khandepar Ponda and Fire and Emergency Services. Various cultural programmes were held on the occasion.
MLAs, Shri Alexio Sequiera, Shri Alexio Reginald Liurenco, Shri Ulhas Tuenkar; Additional Collector, Shri Paresh Faldessai; Senior Government officials, freedom fighters were amongst those prominent persons present on the occasion. shri Anil Pai compered the programme.
