Goan Reporter News: Foot and mouth disease control programme from February 1st

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Panaji Goa is implementing Foot and Mouth Disease Control Programme (FMD-CP) under National Animal Disease Control Programme (4th Round), a Government of India Scheme.

This 30 days programme will commence from February 1, 2024 wherein all efforts will be made to vaccinate all the cattle and buffalo population including stray animals. Pre and post vaccination sera samples will be collected from selected villages, as per the list provided by Government of India to ascertain the immune status of the herd.

As per the guidelines it is mandatory to eartag all the vaccinated animals for identification and upload the details on INAPH Portal.

The dairy farmers are requested to extend their full hearted cooperation to the teams/staff of the Department. The vaccination is to eradicate Foot and Mouth Disease which is a highly contagious disease causing economic losses in milk production, draught power, growth and reproduction.
