Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant attended the19th Rajya Sainik Board Meeting today held at Mantralaya Porvorim, yesterday. The meeting was conducted by Major Venu Gopal Nair, Secretary Department of Sainik Welfare, discussed the progress about commencement of work Sainik Aramgrah, setting up of Zilla Sainik Welfare Office in South Goa District, inclusion of widows of ex-servicemen under reserved category by Direct recruitment for Group C and D Posts, Revision of Monetary Incentives for Goan youth who join the Armed Forces and Exemption of Arms License fees for Ex servicemen.
Chief Minister directed GAD /PWD to allocate requisite space to set up Zilla Sainik Welfare Office, South Goa at Margao for convenience of Ex Servicemen residing in South Goa at the earliest. He also directed GSIDC to fast track the construction of Sainik Aramgrah to facilitate its inauguration at the earliest. Chief Minister also assured to resolve all the issues, if any, and stated that State Government will fully support the Ex-servicemen.
The board recommended number of various measures for welfare of ex-servicemen and their dependents which includes increase Ex-Gratia grant provided to the next akin of Armed Forces Personnel killed or disabled in action in course of performances of duties, to revise the cash grant and Cash in lieu of Land and annuity to the recipients of Chakra Series of Gallantry awards and to provide financial assistance for the wards of Ex Servicemen for admission into Technical Education courses.
The meeting was also attended by Shri Subhash Chandra IAS, Secretary Information and Publicity, Cmde Vinit Kumar Gupta, Representative of Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area (FOGA), Brig Rohit Mehta, Director Resettlement Zone South Pune (DRZS), Captain Satish Kumar Indian Navy Representative Kendra Sainik Board (KSB),Ex-SGT Pradeep Naik, Ex-PO Sanjeev Kumar Lal, Member of All Goa Ex-servicemen Welfare Association ,Ex SGT Ramdas Mahale, non-official member and officials of Home Department and Personnel Department.
