Calangute Police arrest 2 involved in vehicle lifting; recovers 6 stolen vehicles all worth Rs. 1000000/-.

On 15.04.2023 an offence for criminal brach of trust was registered against the unknown accused person for taking on rent at Baga Calangute Goa, complainant’s Blue colour Honda Activa 6G scooter and also took complainant friends grey colour Maruti car, further dishonestly misappropriated said vehicles by not returning the same given date and time.

Accused had given fake ID’s. Hence based on the available mobile number and frequent technical surveillance identity of the accused was revealed.

Due to persistent efforts even after frequent change of locations by the accused, under supervion of PI Calangute, team consisting of Head Constable Satish Sawant, Police Constable Mahendra Chari and Gaurav Chodankar , traced two individuals involved in this crime at Uchgaon, Kolhapur.

Accused 1) Sanjay Kalke r/o Donawade Karvir Kolhapur Maharashtra and 2.Saddam Khudbuddin Jamadar, r/o Balasaheb C olony; Uchgaon, Kolhapur Maharashtra confessed about crime and Swift car and Honda Scooter was recovered at the instance of accused. Upon further interrogation, it was revealed that more 4 bike were brought from Goa and further these bikes were also recovered at the instance of the accused.

Preliminary examination of the accused reveals that the modus operandi would be to take car/bikes on rent from Goa and change its colour and registration number in Kolhapur. Thereafter dispose these vehicles for monitory gains .

These accused identifies bikes/cars on loan and disposed in Kolhapur on default of loan. Thereafter, identify similar vehicles in Goa on rent, take possession through rent and criminally misappropriate it by changing its colour and registration number in Kolhapur.

With the arrest of two accused, Calangute Police busted a gang of vehicle lifters and there are more likely recovery of bikes.

The arrest also led to the recovery of 06 stolen vehicles, 05 two-wheelers and 01 four wheeler, all worth of Rs. 10 lakhs approximately.

Further investigation into this case is in progress under the Supervision of PI Calangute Dattaguru K Sawant, under the guidance of SDPO Porvorim Shri V.Karpe.
