The State Government has Suo moto waived dues of Rs. 48.5 Crores giving benefit to 16,412 dealers informed Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant after distributing the Waiver Certificate of Dues under the Goa (Recovery of Arrears of Tax, Interest, Penalty, Other Dues through Settlement) Act, 2023, also known as the GRATIPOS Act 2023 to the beneficiaries at Mantralaya today.
CM explained that dealers with tax dues exceeding Rs. 10,000 per year as per Act need to apply online for settlement to avail the waiver. He disclosed that the Department has received 1300 applications under the scheme, which are currently under process.
Additionally, Dr. Sawant urged people to promptly file for a one-time settlement on the Department of State Tax online portal before the March 7, 2024 deadline, informed that no extensions will be granted. He detailed the benefits of the Settlement Scheme, including rebates of 20% for undisputed cases and 50% for disputed cases in tax dues, along with full waivers for interest, penalty and other dues.
