Goa Tourism gearing up for World Tourism Day (27th September 2017)

Panjim, 14 September: Goa Tourism is all set to celebrate World Tourism Day on 27th September, 2017. This year the theme for World Tourism Day as adopted by United Nations General Assembly is Sustainable Tourism – a Tool for Development. The day long celebrations will be marked by various activities for tourists across the state.

The Department of Tourism along with Goa Tourism Development Corporation will organize an exclusive boat cruise for children with special needs.

An exclusive tour on the Hop-on Hop-off buses will also be organised for school children. World Tourism Day celebrations will also be organized at the Goa International Airport, Dabolim and some of the key railway stations where tourists will be accorded in a traditional style along with distribution of sweets and roses. On this occasion, tourists availing the Kadamba luxury Volvo bus service from the airport to Calangute will be given a free trip.

A quiz competition would be conducted for college students in the North and South Goa themed around tourism. A painting competition will be conducted on ‘Sustainable Tourism – a Tool for Development’ for students from the College of Fine Arts, Panjim.

The Department of Tourism has invited all school students in the state to participate in the activities and competitions which will be held on the occasion of World Tourism Day. The department will award prize money to the winners participating in these competitions.

The Tourism Department has requested all hoteliers to commemorate World Tourism Day on 27th September 2017 to make the day more significant and memorable.
