GOA GOVT COMES TO ASSISTANCE OF STRANDED KERALA FISHERMEN

Panaji, December 11, 2017 …  The  Collector, South Goa  District has informed that the fishermen from Kerala stranded at Mormugao Port after impact of Ockhi cyclone have been provided with fuel so as to enable the trawlers to move back to Kerala.

            The same was provided after Government of Kerala sent a request to provide assistance to fishermen of Kerala with the assurance to bear the cost.

            Deputy Collector and SDO, Mormugao was directed by Collector, South Goa to co-ordinate in this regard with Mormugao Port Trust which agreed to provide the required fuel and raise the bills to the Government  for the settlement. 

            Earlier, M.P. from Kerala, a part of delegation of the Member of Parliament visiting  Goa, also paid a visit to the stranded fishermen from Kerala and requested necessary assistance.
