Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said he would write to Union Home Minister seeking the order of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) related to a case filed against Silva, claiming that since his birth is registered in Portugal, he should be debarred as an Indian citizen.

Parrikar said that the activities of some of the senior congress men to settle their scores with the issue of portuguese citizenship had opened a pandoras box for all those goans who had registered their birth in portuguese

Mr Parrikar also stated that it was up to the special authority such as joint secretary home to decide on the citizenship issues and not the state police department who could act in the matter
