The Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) recently distributed full kit to 120 trainees from Poira Football Development Centre at the hands of BJP MLA, Anant Shet and Aleixo da Costa, Member Secretary GFDC recently. Also present at the function were Urvi Masurkar, Sarpanch of Poira-Mayem and Narendra Tari, a panch member.
Anant Shet appreciated the efforts of GFDC for working so hard towards the development of football and the young trainees. “Education is important but sports is vital. I urge the kids to concentrate on both for intellectual and physical,” said Anant.
Speaking on the occasion Aleixo da Costa expressed pleasure in seeing young children in football attire provided by GFDC. He urged parents to encourage their children to take to the field and become budding footballers for the state. He also informed that kits were given to only those kids whose parents have signed an MOU with GFDC. “We do not only give the kids coaches and training but also bare their full expense in case they are injured. Currently we are having 38 centres and 3,608 trainees across the state,” he said.
“I would like to request the trainees to attend training daily and take part and do well in the intra- centre tournaments. Those who do well there will get a chance to represent their centre at the inter- centre tournaments, “added Aleixo.
