Panaji:::: 26/09/2017 … Sports Journalists’ Association of Goa will host the Geno Sports Awards 2016-17 presentation ceremony on Friday, September 29, at 11am at Hotel Mandovi, Panaji.
Right from young emerging talents up to the seasoned professionals; the best performing players, coach and teams will be recognised for their efforts in the esteemed presence of Sports Minister Babu Azgaonkar and AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik.
SJAG expects your company at its annual sports awards function that facilitates coming together of the sports fraternity in the state.
This year’s recipients are as follows:
BEST SPORTSMAN: ANURAG MHAMAL, GOA’S FIRST GRAND MASTER
- BEST SPORTSWOMAN: ANURA PRABHU DESAI.
BEST EMERGING PLAYER: HERAMB PARAB
BEST COACH: MAYMOL ROCKY
BEST TEAM: GOA AQUATICS TEAM WON 18 MEDALS AT THE AQUATICS NATIONALS
BEST COLLEGE IN SPORTS (MEN): ST. XAVIER’S COLLEGE, MAPUSA
BEST COLLEGE IN SPORTS (WOMEN): ROSARY COLLEGE, NAVELIM:
*Apart from the sports awards, the Sports Journalists Association of Goa will also recognise the efforts of all-rounder Shikha Pandey and physiotherapist Tracy Fernandes for their remarkable performance in India’s journey to the finals of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in England earlier this year.
*The S.J.A.G will also present a Citation, as a token of Appreciation for supporting budding talents in the state sports arena, to Shri Dilip Salgaocar, CMD, Geno Pharmaceuticals and Shrinivas Dempo, Dempo Group chairman .
*Senior Sports Journalist Manguesh Borkar (Goa Doot) and photo-journalist Ganadeep Sheldekar (The Navhind Times) will also be felicitated for their contribution to sports.
