Panaji: February 7, 2016 … The District Magistrate, North Goa District under Section 144 of the code of Criminal Procedure, has passed an order for strict compliance to all the owners of the houses, buildings, flats and other residential accommodation and the owners/ management of all hotels, lodging and boarding, private guest houses, paying guest accommodation of religious bodies in the whole of NorthGoa District to verify the bonafides of the persons through their proof of identify such as Election Card, Driving License, Smart Card, Passport, etc. and fill in the Tenant/visitor/Guest Verification Form in respect of the Tenants/Visitors/Guests before such persons are allowed to reside/stay in their premises and furnish the same to local Police Station for further verification and record. The order also applies to the owners of such premises who have so far not furnished the verification forms in respect of their Tenants/Visitors/ Guests and who are already occupying their premises.
This order shall come into force with effect from February 6, 2016 and shall be effective for a period of 60 days that is upto April 5, 2016 (both days inclusive) unless withdrawn earlier.
Any person contravening this order shall be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
