Margao: January 23, 2018 … The Constitution Week Celebrations were held at Sanguem, Quepem, Canacona and across the State at the initiative of the Governor, Dr.(Smt) Mridula Sinha by Directorate of Higher Education and Department of Political Science, Goa University.
At a function organised at Canacona, today, Smt Shruti Nadkarni, Assistant Professor, Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao said Right to equality, Right to freedom, right against exploitation, right to freedom of religion, cultural and educational right and right to constitutional remedies are the six fundamental rights bestowed on us by the Constitution.
Preamble of the Constitution tells us “we the people of country” ourselves gave us the Constitution Smt Nadkarni said and added that Constitution is the basic book which has everything required for the smooth functioning of country. She also spoke about various salient feature of Constitution.

At Quepem Taluka, Ms. Sonali Dhamsekar, Assistant Professor in Political Science, Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao gave a brief about the Constitution of India, yesterday.
Dhamsekar while addressing said, Constitution is the supreme law of the land. It contains laws concerning Government functions and its relationship with the people. Constitution spells out the right and duties of the citizen. It lays down the National goal of the country besides providing a set of basic rules that allows for minimal coordination and assurance amongst members of society, she pointed.
Smt Maria Gorretti Simoes, Assistant Professor and HOD of G.R. Kare College of Law at a similar function at Sanguem highlighted the various fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution of India.
All programmes were attended by students, elected members, Government officials and members of NGO’s.
