Panaji: October 29, 2016 … Chief Minister Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar inaugurated 1st National Ayurveda Day celebration programme on the occasion of Dhanvantari Jayanti at Secreteriat Hall, Porvorim. Others present on occasion were Deputy Chief Minister Shri. Francis D’Souza, Minister for Panchayat, Forest and Environment Shri. Rajendra Arlekar, MLA and Chairman of GSIDC Shri. Pramod Sawant, Secretary for Health Shri. Sudhir Mahajan, Director for Directorate of Health Services Dr. Sanjeev Dalvi and Dr. Dipak Ghume. Programme was organised by Directorate of Health Services.
Chief Minister Shri. Parsekar said that, Ayurveda, India’s natural system of healing has spread worldwide as an innovative and comprehensive system of mind-body medicine. He said, Prime Minister has taken a keen interest to popularise Ayurveda by setting up AYUSH Ministry.
Shri. Francis D’souza said that, it is important to have connect with nature. As we go away from nature we face more lifestyle Diseases. Research Ayurvedic Centre will come in State he said. He also said that awareness of Ayurveda is important and people should be educated on this.
Shri. Rajendra Arlekar highlighted importance of Ayurveda for healing.
Dhanvantari Awards were presented for the work in field of Allopathy, Dentistry, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Yoga, Traditional Healing and Government to Dr. Manjunath Dessai, Dr. Guruprasad Kapdi, Professor Anil Panse, Dr. Dattaraj Dessai, Shantaram Parab and Dr. Jose D’sa.
