CM CALLS TO CONDUCT MORE RESEARCH IN ENGINEERING FIELD

 July, 11, 2015.Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar has stressed the need to conduct more research in the field of Engineering. He said, in view of lack of adequate consultancy the State has to seek advice of consultants for executing the plans in taking up major developmental projects and execute the same in the State.

Speaking after laying foundation stone for the proposed Rs.3 crores project for the work of construction of Boys Hostel in the distinguished presence of Minister for PWD Shri Sudin Dhawalikar under centrally funded scheme of AICTE at function held at  Goa Engineering College, Farmagudi  today the Chief Minister said research and findings be it in technical and other areas are necessary so that we may not have to rely on consultancy from outside the state.

Highlighting the significance of technical education in the era of Information Technology the Chief Minister said technical education is the need of the hour for which the State Government has taken required steps. In this context the Chief Minister said suitable land will be identified for setting up of proposed NIT in the State. He appealed to the communidade to extend its support to make available the land for the project.

Speaking on the occasion PWD Minister Shri Sudin Dhawalikar said his vision is to make Goa Engineering College one of the best institute in the Asia continent. He said adequate funds are allocated to GEC to meet its requirement and develop infrastructure and also to make available necessary education facilities to the students.

Chief Minister also launched online fee payment system and online application for Master of Engineering Programme 2015 of Goa Engineering College as part of Digital India Week celebration on the occasion.

Earlier Chief Minister Shri Parsekar alongwith Minister for PWD Shri Sudin Dhawalikar planted saplings in the campus of Goa Engineering College.

Secretary, Education Shri Virendra Kumar, Shri Vivek Kamat, DirectorTechninical Education and Shri D.J.S. Borkar, Principal Chief Engineer who also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier Dr. V. N. Shet, Principal Goa Engineering College welcomed while Dr. Ullhas Savoikar, Advisor Nature Club GEC later proposed the vote of thanks.
