Panaji: December 15, 2016 ….. Chief Minister Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar laid the foundation stone for the up gradation of Government High School building in the presence of Shri. Nilesh Cabral, MLA Curchorem and Chairman, Goa Tourism Development Corporation, Shri. Pramod Gauns Dessai, Sarpanch, Village Panchayat Xeldem, Shri. Milagres Fernandes, Deputy Sarpanch, Shri. Paresh Gauns Dessai, Panch Member, Shri. Gajanan Bhat, Director, Directorate of Education, Shri. Sanjit Rodrigues, Managing Director, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, Shri. Sharad Dessai, Chairman, Parent Teachers Association at Xeldem, Quepem in Curchorem Constituency yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister assured to complete this project as fast as possible by making necessary provisions for expansion. Government, he said has succeeded in changing the mindset of the people regarding the functioning of Government Educational Institutions. Efforts have been initiated to provide necessary infrastructure to the Government run educational institutions and impart quality education to the students he said.
Shri. Cabral, MLA congratulated teachers of the School for taking extra efforts to mould the students and build up their carrier.
The proposed school building consists of open air auditorium for school activities like gathering, cultural programmes, spacious area for playground, provision of CCTV networking for the entire campus, cubicle toilet blocks with adequate facilities to maintain hygiene, assembly hall having capacity of around 300 students with provision of AV system. Also compound wall will be constructed to ensure security of students, provision of lawns to create natural and cool atmosphere, construction of new building along with repairs of old building to enhance the aesthetic appearance and life of the structure.
