11-09-2013 … Even though two months are left for the state to hold the 44th international film festival of india in goa officials of the corporation city of Panjim have already chalked out their plans of tackling the garbage issue for the up-coming iffi festival 2013 ….
It may be noted that last year the Corporation of the City had tackled the garbage issue in a different way and for the first time, CCP has decided to do away with use of plastic at the film festival banning the use of plastic at the venue and directing the stall owners to use only metal or melamine plates which could be washed and reused.
Every year around four tonnes of garbage is being generated during the film festival inside the city jurisdiction while Garbage bins are normally installed at various points and staff being deputed to guide the delegates during the festival too.
Last year the corporation has received Rs ten lakh to collect garbage generated during the festival,
Speaking to goanreporter ccp commissioner sanjit rodrigues said ccp would follow the same procedure which was done last year the four way segregation of waste at various place along with city bajao campaign during the film festival
Sanjit said that all ccp garbage management rules would be made applicable also during the iff festival too this year
