ART AND CULTURE DEPARTMENT HOLDS SOSPESO ART WORKSHOP

Panaji,  February 6,  2019“Craft has always been one of the most important and ancient art in Indian culture and tradition. It was always present and prevalent in some form or the other throughout history. Sospeso is not a widely known art and one can make good livelihood if this art is taken seriously. Today’s world demands novelties. And this can be a good novelty craft in the Indian markets,” said Chief Guest  Shri  Mahendra Chodankar, well-known artist, retired HOD of Painting department from Goa college of Fine Arts, while addressing the participants at the concluding function of the ‘Sospeso Art workshop’ held at Sanskruti Bhavan Patto- Panaji.

The Directorate of Art and Culture organized a ‘Sospeso Art workshop’ for five days at Sanskruti Bhavan. Earlier Shri. Ashok Parab, Deputy Director, Art and Culture welcomed the participants. He congratulated the participants for their work and wished them success in this field. He also briefed the gathering about various activities of Art and Culture Department.

Resource Person, Ms. Alpana Kale appreciated all the participants and assured to have an advanced workshop in this particular art. She also shared her experience in the field and also assured participants of continued support in case of any difficulties as far as Sospeso art is concerned.

Certificates were distributed at the hands of the Chief Guest Shri Mahendra Chodankar. Mementoes were presented to Resource Person and her assistant. Participants Ms.Rita D’Souza and Ms. Exalta Rodrigues expressed views on behalf of all the participants. Ms. Siddhi Upadhye compered the programme and Assistant Cultural Officer Sidhi Thali proposed vote of thanks.
