GANDHIJI STRIVED TO LIBERATE SUPPRESSED AND OPPRESSED SECTIONS OF THE SOCIETY-GOVERNOR

Panaji: October 2,2018 … The Governor of Goa Dr. ( Smt.) Mridula Sinha attended musical programme organized by The Regional Outreach Bureau, under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India in Darbar hall of  Rajbhavan at Donapoula yesterday. The objective of the programme was to commemorate the celebration of 150th birth anniversary and pay rich tribute to the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi.   

Dr. Sinha who was the chief guest for the function, while addressing said that the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi  nspired lives of many people. He played vital role in uplifting the downtrodden section of the society. He served the cause of humanity. He was of the opinion that all human beings are creation of god and therefore all are equal.

Dr. Sinha further said the spinning wheel used for manufacturing khadi was the source of self employment through which can provide relief programme for poor  masses.   He  therefore started  khadi  movement with  a vision to uplift  poor people, make them  self reliant and through which   rid them  of their poverty. During the partition of India he strived for the harmony between Hindus and Muslim the She informed.

The Governor also said that Mahatma Gandhi who led the freedom movement for the political emancipation of the nation. But he also struggled for the liberation of the suppressed and oppressed section of the society. The celebration of birth anniversary of Gandhi   she said  is a right occasion to remember him and his principles he always stood for.      

PWD Minister, Shri  Ramkrishna  ( Sudin ) Dhavalikar, Chief  Secretary Shri Dharmendra Sharma, Additional Director General PIB, Smt. Melinda Dias, Secretary to Governor, Shri Rupeshkumar Thakur,  Jt. Secretary to Governor, Ms Biju Naik,  Staff of Regional Outreach  Bureau and others attended the function.

Smt. Siddhi Upadhye welcomed the dignitaries and also compered the function.
